Highly under appreciated and treated awfully by management.
The good thingsThe people I worked with were supportive and welcoming.
The challengesTeam leads and managements need assessing. They are incapable of taking any accountability for their mistakes and will target people they don’t like to pin their mistakes on. They will speak down to you and ask inappropriate questions related to personal life. Management will not take any feedback or complaints seriously if it involves a team lead, and will only back poor behaviour.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I'm saving you from torment, stress and misery!
    The good thingsAbsolutely nothing.
The challengesManagement do not back/ support you. Hard work is not rewarded. No training/ professional development opportunities whatsoever. The organisation only cares about their image....(not about treating workers well). The work culture is built on: incessant chaos, lack of planning, bully!ng, blaming others, nepotism, micromanagement, insecure and incompetent managament, unreasonable work deadlines, clicky groups and backstabbing.

Overall, an enjoyable experience, not necessarily a long-term option if you have career aspirations.
The good thingsHave had some good opportunities during my time here, met many people including former and current Ministers, and contributed to the development of the state in various ways. Was fortunate enough to experience some travel to various conferences.
The challengesThe machinery of government changes is challenging; it pays not to get too comfortable in your role as priorities and direction can change overnight. The latest restructure has been hard on some of the team with staff displaced or now having to operate in new teams. There is not a lot of opportunity now at the middle management or lower level for advancement, therefore career challenges are a real issue and retaining staff will be a problem if this is not addressed in the future.

It's a big buraucracy with little ACTUAL regard to real people, despite loud statements
The good thingsMy immediate team was great - knowledgeable, active, vibrant, well knit together. They used the latest technology and the job was challenging and interesting
The challengesHigher levels of management kept their strategies in secret till the last and the whole team was disbanded at the latest possible moment as a BIG surprise for everyone. Also, when I started it took 3 weeks to grant me adequate security privileges to perform my work.
