Best supportive company to work for and lots of opportunity to expand skills.
The good thingsAustralian owned family business. Opportunity to progress in role I started as part time 8 years ago and have been manager and now assistant manager (returned from maternity leave). Great team environment. Head office support always just a call or email away. Set hours and work days which makes it easy for me with no family support to have daycare and school care set the same every week providing a set routine for me and my family. Great quality products I love to sell and have myself in our home. Opportunity to move to different locations. I love my team I work with we all consistently support, learn and help each other out.
The challengesThe initial training can take a bit to get around all products if coming from non experienced backgrounds but supportive team and head office training and training manuals to follow help very much with learning and on the road training with team members is great.

A great company to work for
The good thingsA really positive work environment with friendly, supportive co-workers/management. Gratitude is regularly passed down from upper management, and in my experience it is one of the few workplaces that doesn't make you feel like you are just a number.
The challengesInitially I thought learning the technical aspects of the industry was going to be a challenge. I was placed with a supportive team and on the job training was provided which made it an easy and rewarding transition from your typical retail environment.

Steady long term employment that continues to challenge your development daily.
The good thingsThe range of duties as each day is different. The staffing you work with. The self satisfaction in helping customers design their homes. Large multi national company following a national award.
The challengesSeeing new homes with different layouts each week and challenging yourself to assist the customer design their window furnishings.

The good thingsMy team were great and very supportive, everyone was always willing to jump in an help each other when needed. I was provided with training from the start and was able to learn a lot of new skills whilst on the job.
The challengesUnderstanding customers' needs was occasionally challenging but my manager and other staff provided me with the support I needed to get the best outcome for the customer.

They just don't care about you
The good thingsnot really any, seriously, just not worth working here at all
The challengesyou'll be sent out onto the road with little to no training, resulting in flack from customers that you will have to resolve yourself, with no help. Just a warning

I haven't worked at a great company like this in a long time
The good thingsI really enjoy the culture, the people, management and the supportive work environment. I am given room to develop and learn and have fun at the same time. It really feels like a family.
The challengesThere is hard work, plenty of responsibility, no two days are the same and there is plenty of team work. If you can roll your sleeves up and just get into it, you will love this place.

    Will never do that again
The good thingsNice team, could be fun for a few hours a day before the pressure hit
The challengesInsane upper management. Nothing was ever good enough. Low pay high stress, ridiculously over complicated systems. Terrible staff culture, caused by higher up management. This company should be planting forests for all the paper they waste...

Lots of good times, learnt a lot, sadly had to leave due to a lack of flexibility of hours/location.
The good thingsCo-workers are wonderful, very supportive. It is a great family environment. Store management is great. Work is diverse and always interesting. Training is good. Oppertunity to learn a lot of different skills.
The challengesManagment is inflexible. Staff have to work hours that don't suit their life/family etc. Also the company moves staff around between locations quite often. This results in a high staff turn over.

    Love, love, love my job!
The good thingsI work with a great team at the store I work at - it really feels like a family to me. I have been given great support by my manager and I also enjoy my team mates. Days are never quiet, that's for sure, but that's the way I like it! I love the creativity involved which is why I love my job so much. There's nothing better than helping customers to furnish their amazing homes. I enjoy the variety in my job and whether I'm at the store or out and about, I just love it!
The challengesSometimes I have been personally challenged when working in teams, but part of that has been reflecting on who I am. I have been encouraged and supported by my Manager to get along with others and work in with people. Sometimes that is not easy because I am pretty headstrong, but I am still learning!
