Favourite job so far, a family business that feels like home :)The good thingsWorking here was one of the best jobs I've had. It was a joy to work with such lovely and caring people everyday. After several years at the company I went into a new role in academia and to be honest, I missed my old admin job and my work family I had built at this company. The Disher's really became part of my family, always there to lend a hand, giving great advice, and always caring about what was best for me. In return, working for them was incredibly easy as I felt really valued and like my work was truly respected and held in high regard. It was so rewarding because of that - to feel valued and appreciated all the time - that it was not difficult at all to want to do a good for them every day at work. I enjoyed my time here so much that when my contract ended in academia, I contacted the Disher's to ask if they had any temporary roles, just because I missed them so much! I now work with them as a consultant, and I couldn't be happier (and luckier!) to have scored another position with them and continue my friendship with my amazing colleagues here well into the future.
The challengesIn the past, this agency has had a high turnover rate in the rentals department, like all similar agencies in Brisbane, simply because being a property manager is an incredibly complex and demanding job, and it's not for everyone. I think this has sometimes been a challenge in the office (that is, just keeping pace with the staff and trailing newcomers), however this situation is kind of unavoidable in a job market that has a shortage of experienced and professional property managers. Having been employed at Doug Disher Real Estate several years ago, and now again (in sales, rentals, and admin), I've been able to get to know both the old and new teams quite well, and can honestly say that they have an excellent group of experienced, patient and knowledgable property managers who are running their PM department like clockwork now, which is so great to see. Being a 'new' addition to the team myself (with my recent re-employment), it was so easy to slot right into their systems and get up and running in a flash, and there was so much kindness and understanding from the team that I really felt welcomed and accommodated. It's so wonderful to see that team blossom into a well-oiled machine, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a PM (or sales!) role here to anyone who is organised, friendly, and motivated!
