Supportive team, room to grow, and a genuinely good place to be
The good thingsDoug Disher Real Estate is a rare gem in real estate – a workplace that feels more like a community than just a job. From day one, I felt welcomed and supported. The leadership is hands-on, approachable, and open to new ideas – you’re not just a number here. There's a strong culture of trust, flexibility, and laughter (yes, even in real estate!). The team genuinely cares about each other and about doing the right thing by clients. We collaborate, share wins, and help each other out when things get tough. Birthdays and milestones are always celebrated, and we regularly catch up over drinks or food – it's those little things that make a big difference.
The challengesReal estate has its ups and downs but working in a well-structured and understanding team makes those periods far more manageable.

A Truly Supportive and Caring WorkplaceAfter a wonderful chapter at Doug Disher Real Estate, I’m moving on due to personal reasons—but I couldn’t leave without sharing how grateful I am for my time here. Working at DDRE has been an incredibly positive and nurturing experience. From day one, I felt welcomed, respected, and genuinely cared for. The team is warm, supportive, and always ready to lend a hand, and the culture is one that truly values people. It’s rare to find a workplace where you feel zero pressure and actually look forward to coming in every day—but this has been exactly that. Doug, the owner, is a remarkable leader. He’s kind, deeply compassionate, and leads with his heart. His genuine care for staff goes beyond words—he fosters an environment where everyone feels safe, encouraged, and appreciated. Leaving this team is bittersweet. I’ll always hold immense gratitude for the memories, the mentorship, and the sense of belonging I found here. If you’re looking for a workplace where you’re treated like family, look no further than Doug Disher Real Estate.

Great experience with a friendly crew
The good thingsAt the time of joining DDRE team, Doug had a consult providing proactive sales training. It was definitely a good beginning for my real estate journey. (All recorded for future reference and learning too.) If you have the right attitude and love meeting people this industry will take you far. In addition, you have Doug and the teams vast experience and guidance to help you succeed. With personal recognition awards along the way too, loved the gift cards. During my employment at DDRE I found it to be a friendly and family environment. Weekly team meetings sharing everyone’s experience. We worked as one team which I heard was very different from other real estate offices. There is nothing more rewarding than helping people find their next home. And nothing better to sell a home! I’m glad to have experienced this working environment. I would recommend DDRE to anyone wanting to experience the same.
The challengesProperties don’t just come knocking at your door to sell and Sales don’t just happen. Be ready to be committed, work hard and after the first year meeting prospective clients, the 2nd year becomes easier. Worth the experience.

    Fantastic company
The good thingsI started working here part-time during university and was always able to be flexible with my hours if needed. Absolutely loved the office environment, super friendly, work drinks pretty regularly and always a celebration for someone's birthday. I moved back to the UK and asked Doug what I could do remotely for the company and have been working overseas for about 9 months which has been great. It really shows the family spirit of the company that it works so well.
The challengesWorking remotely has meant a loss of the office environment, but I'm sure in person it's still fantastic!

Exciting role in a supportive environment for very appreciative Bosses!
The good thingsI have worked at Doug Disher Real Estate for over 7 years and have absolutely loved my time with the company. The office is a very friendly and caring environment. Doug and Sue are the most wonderful bosses to work for- both are very approachable and compassionate. Having started as a receptionist and worked my way up to Property Manager there is definitely opportunities to develop your career. There are fantastic benefits and perks for working for this family based company. I don't think I'll ever leave!
The challengesThe peak rental time (December, January, February) is the biggest challenge in the Property Management department but with very supportive bosses you get through this period and come out stronger on the other side. I can honestly say the peak time is actually my favourite time of year as the days fly by and you get a great sense of achievement. The rewards are great too.

Favourite job so far, a family business that feels like home :)
The good thingsWorking here was one of the best jobs I've had. It was a joy to work with such lovely and caring people everyday. After several years at the company I went into a new role in academia and to be honest, I missed my old admin job and my work family I had built at this company. The Disher's really became part of my family, always there to lend a hand, giving great advice, and always caring about what was best for me. In return, working for them was incredibly easy as I felt really valued and like my work was truly respected and held in high regard. It was so rewarding because of that - to feel valued and appreciated all the time - that it was not difficult at all to want to do a good for them every day at work. I enjoyed my time here so much that when my contract ended in academia, I contacted the Disher's to ask if they had any temporary roles, just because I missed them so much! I now work with them as a consultant, and I couldn't be happier (and luckier!) to have scored another position with them and continue my friendship with my amazing colleagues here well into the future.
The challengesIn the past, this agency has had a high turnover rate in the rentals department, like all similar agencies in Brisbane, simply because being a property manager is an incredibly complex and demanding job, and it's not for everyone. I think this has sometimes been a challenge in the office (that is, just keeping pace with the staff and trailing newcomers), however this situation is kind of unavoidable in a job market that has a shortage of experienced and professional property managers. Having been employed at Doug Disher Real Estate several years ago, and now again (in sales, rentals, and admin), I've been able to get to know both the old and new teams quite well, and can honestly say that they have an excellent group of experienced, patient and knowledgable property managers who are running their PM department like clockwork now, which is so great to see. Being a 'new' addition to the team myself (with my recent re-employment), it was so easy to slot right into their systems and get up and running in a flash, and there was so much kindness and understanding from the team that I really felt welcomed and accommodated. It's so wonderful to see that team blossom into a well-oiled machine, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a PM (or sales!) role here to anyone who is organised, friendly, and motivated!

Underwhelming office environment which severely lacks camaraderie amongst team members.
The good things- Extremely close to public transport - Clean office - From time to time morning tea is provided
The challenges- Awful office environment with no sense of team spirit. - High staff turnover - Seek should offer them a discount for the amount of ads which they post. -

The challengesPoor office management and extremely stressful environment. No career advancement opportunities. High staff turn over added to the stress.

DDRE is a family business, and I always felt like part of the family working there.
The good thingsI worked at DDRE for a number of years and enjoyed all of my experience. I worked primarily on reception, and also in a support role for property management. I always felt valued by the DDRE team, and the message from senior management was that reception / support staff were important team members. I was always treated courteously, and was thanked for my work. I found the office environment to be inclusive with regular opportunities for fun and celebrating team successes. DDRE is a busy office; hard work and initiative is appropriately rewarded, and to me the high calibre service they provide to their clients is reflected in the work ethic and culture of the office as a whole. I liked the fact that my ideas/opinions were respected, and in some instances went on to help improve the customer experience. I was also given opportunities to act in higher duties during periods of staff leave, or busy times of year; which I think is rare for reception roles in general. I was sad to leave DDRE, and will continue to visit when I'm in the area. I know for a fact that I'm not the only one to do this!
The challengesI worked at DDRE for several years and honestly say that the only challenging thing is peak rental season; due to the sheer volume of properties available and applications to process. If you are willing to work hard, then you will find it very rewarding!
