The organisation is a great asset to Perth. Management needs to be looked at closer.
The good thingsVolunteers are lovely and it's great to see they get treated with respect.
The challengesHigh turnover under management, lack of resources for training employees, and management can be disrespectful.

Rewarding role, though management made achieving initiatives challenging
The good thingsI enjoyed the meaningful work of supporting community members and grant applicants. The role was a pilot program, which offered scope to be creative, design processes, and contribute directly to community initiatives. Working remotely allowed me to manage my workflow and apply my experience to achieve tangible outcomes.
The challengesWhile the role offered autonomy, I encountered challenges with management dynamics. Some initiatives I led were not fully supported, and decisions were sometimes overridden or inconsistently communicated. Certain behaviours and approaches within management made collaboration and cultural engagement more difficult than necessary, requiring extra care to navigate team interactions.

I wouldn't trade my job with anyone. Knowing what I do is genuinely making a difference in this chaotic world gives me great fulfilment.
The good thingsAt Foodbank Australia, I come to work each day knowing what I do truly matters. That purpose gives the work real meaning which sustains me through the inevitable challenges. I'm part of a supportive, values-driven team which is strong on collaboration, compassion and determination. No two days are the same which I relish.
The challengesAs is the case with most charities, achieving anything in the face of scant resources requires resilience and tenacity. Some days it may look like one step forward and two steps back.

After graduating university I struggled to find a job within my chosen field - I was lucky to find and be chosen for this role. I have been involved in many interesting campaigns gaining experience and confidence.
The good thingsIt is a varied role - my days are never boring always something new and exciting making use of my design, customer service and admin skills.
The challengesSo much to do so little time - even the most organized and efficient workers would struggle. It's important to take it one day at a time and ensure a quick turnover in tasks where possible.
