An inclusive and supportive workplace with strong opportunities for professional growth.
The good thingsThere have been excellent opportunities for internal growth within Gowrie, which have supported my professional development. The staff at my service are friendly and inclusive, which has helped sustain a positive and supportive workplace environment since I started in 2021. Additionally, our Senior Leadership Team are approachable and encouraging making them super easy to work with :)
The challengesNothing to note at this time.

Traumatising, will not recommend unless you don't mind sucking up and being a puppet.
The good thingsPay is good. Trauma bonded with many colleagues who resigned.
The challengesWhile the service presents a positive image externally, my experience behind the scenes was very different. Management appeared highly political, with clear favouritism shown toward certain staff members who had personal friendships or external connections. Gossip and exclusion were common, and staff who were not favoured were treated poorly, pressured, or made to feel unwelcome. The environment felt manipulative rather than supportive, and authenticity was lacking. Several staff members I encountered had left or were in the process of leaving, many describing their experiences as emotionally harmful. There also appeared to be a strong focus on maintaining appearances, including selectively encouraging positive reviews, which made the public image feel misaligned with the internal culture. Overall, this was not a safe or healthy learning environment, and I would urge others to look beyond surface-level impressions when considering this workplace.

Do not recommend working here. Avoid
The good thingsN/a - none to list.
The challengesNo support from anyone, no team spirit, child forgotten/left in a room with no supervision on day of interview, no flexibility for working parents, one shift a month if lucky. Expected to work even when you become visibly sick and dizzy.

Working with passionate educators toward quality learning outcomes is deeply rewarding, though greater investment in technology would help streamline processes and improve support across the sector.
The good thingsThe people at Gowrie Victoria are incredibly passionate and committed to delivering high-quality learning outcomes for children. There’s a strong sense of purpose in the work, and it’s rewarding to be part of a team that genuinely values children’s voices and supports each individual’s professional journey.
The challengesThere are a lot of different systems in play with a limited capacity to streamline processes (NFP financial constraints/funding/legislative requirements).

    Wish I never applied
The good thingsWFH option and Salary
The challengesWorking here was the worst decision I ever made. Extremely toxic workplace where the executive management team seem to encourage workplace gossip and manipulation, provide ZERO support and take no accountability for anything. From the outside Gowrie looks like they tick all the boxes but once inside you will find its all a big facade. Disappointing to see an organisation that really do great things in the Early Learning sector treat staff with ZERO respect. Seems to be a revolving door of staff leaving after short periods due to a lack of support and mentally unable to cope anymore.

Do NOT recommend to work here
The good thingsOffer WFH option, good pay
The challengesToxic work culture, unprofessional / rude behaviour of staff members from other teams, understaffed, poor management from higher manager. They don’t know how to run the RTO. Don’t be blinded by the money they offer if you don’t want to destroy your mental health.
