Most day’s I’ve enjoyed my time at HBF, I’ve had opportunity to job shadow other departments, really appreciate the people I work with. The organisation is going through a lot of change. The write attitude will get you places.

The good things

Great brand, that’s leading the way in health insurance. Senior managers genuinely care for you and career development, just do the right thing. Awesome group of people to work with. Great CEO

Draining and tiresome. I am glad I moved on from the organisation.

The good things

Well known brand which looks good on your CV. But that's where it ends.

The challenges

Very high turn over in customer service, frontline roles and within the HR Team. People and Culture Team was a very toxic environment. Management both previous and current DO NOT live out the 4 brand values. Don't be fooled by the beautiful offices and clever branding.

Chaotic, toxic work environment, would not recommend

The good things

Very little positive. Contact Centre only area of the business that actually live the HBF values.

The challenges

Very political, top-heavy management structure. Little direction from Senior Management, high turn-over, no work-life balance, middle management constantly stretched which then flows onto employees who are expected to continually give more.

Great pay and good work for those after a challenge and career development.

The good things

Ethical and values-based business, demonstrated commitment to its employees, especially during COVID (one of few companies to guarantee 0 redundancies and maintain full capacity), great opportunities for development and progression if you put in the work, good pay, coaching and solutions are preferred over discipline and punishment, a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and problem solving.

The challenges

Scheduling and rosters are sometimes published incorrectly which can sometimes make it hard to keep track of when you're actually working. Overall managers and team leaders are effective, but your experience on the job can be vary depending on your manager as many different leadership styles and interpretation of the business' policies and procedures exist.
