    Dream job with ineffective leadership.
The good thingsAmazing students and dedicated educators. Leadership had been wonderful up until new leadership
The challengesUnder new leadership, staff were treated unfairly; no flexibility given for family/life balance, demands for 10 hour working days without negotiation. Left with no option but to walk away from a loved job with many others. No help from higher management sadly.

won't recommend anyone with talent to work here.
The good thingsMade a few friends who are nice and positive
The challengespoor management, horrible working environment, toxic work relations and high expectation to do a lot without offering corresponding salary or respect. The school promoted wrong people to be manager, who are not capable and have zero managerial skills.

So far, my journey has been great. I am enjoying my role and looking forward to the challenges that comes across.
The good thingsSupportive Work Environment: Holmesglen Institute TAFE offers a supportive and collaborative work environment. Management is approachable, and there's a strong focus on professional development, making it a great place to grow your career. Meaningful Work: Working at Holmesglen Institute TAFE is fulfilling as you're directly contributing to the education and skill development of students.
The challengesBureaucratic Processes: While the organization is well-structured, some processes can be quite bureaucratic, which may slow down decision-making and project implementation at times. The resources can be a bit more modern.

I finally feel like I'm in a place I belong and can see myself wanting to stay and make an impact.
The good thingsThe whole onboarding process was much better than expected. Management support has been great and staff in general are great people who are happy to help.
The challengesStarting at a base level for data is difficult however this also opens up possibilities to control how things are being captured and working with great staff to build it up.

The job offers a good starting point, but be ready to tackle on a lot of workload as an administrative officer.
The good thingsThe people at Holmesglen are really nice and friendly. When I first started working at the institute, I learnt a lot from them. Some of the management here are also helpful and inviting.
The challengesThe work here does get overwhelming with a lot of things to do, especially when we are short staffed.

    Probably in the right place.
The good thingsI just started at Holmesglen Institute of TAFE and this is just the 4th Week. I had an excellent onboarding experience from the initial call to my application and through to the interview, appointment, induction and I am feeling settled now. It looks like a relaxed environment to work with. The management and the people around are all helpful and supportive. People might think, it is too early to provide a positive review within one month of taking this role, but my review also includes the 4 plus years of experience I had with the other TAFE before joining Holmesglen TAFE.
The challengesYet to be faced but definitely manageable because of the supportive environment and with the helpful people around.

1 to 2 years in the role, former employee
Holmesglen gave me the opportunity to lay the foundations of an experienced & ethically sound project management career.
The good thingsI acted as the project lead on the relocation of a six story building in Melbourne CBD. In my first year as a graduate I took on a leadership role & learned hands on how to delegate & priorities tasks, such as supervising subcontractors & removalists while auditing thousands of items. Having to assess task priority & make judgements on the spot were crucial to that projects scope. Unexpected issues presented themselves sometimes daily, I relied on brainstorming, problem solving & calling my mentor multiple times a day to run ideas & options past him before I started to trust myself to make the right choice. Holmesglen enabled my development, presenting opportunities that would set the foundation of my future career path.
The challengesThe difficulties I faced were minimal in my personal experience, mostly being apart of my growth & development. Each experience only presented me with a deeper understanding of how I could approach challenges in the work environment & act with integrity.

I feel like I am just a number. I work hard, but my job changes at the whim of management, who make decisions without consulting anyone.

Great Learning experience, however little support and staffing shortages due to funding to different areas, a hard slog.
The good thingsCreated great working relationships and was provided with excellent assistance from OH&S with regard to work environment/
The challengesManagement and arrogance. Placing students into positions that have had not real world experience within corporate environments with regard to administration of a business. The Corporate environment is a great learning platform and many organisation are much more prepared.

Horrible, wouldn't recommend this place to teachers or students.
The good thingsThe other teachers for the most part were good as was admin. The students were terrific, very forgiving of a hot mess of a school.
The challengesThe management have no idea what's going on. When things collapse they waltz in and scold everyone like children. Basic systems and processes are missing. You're told content is there ready to go but it isn't. What is there is very poor quality. They don't invest in learning designers, the ones that are there don't interact with teachers. Overall very disorganized, reactive, stressful workplace. Don't work there.
