A lack of leadership, and a lack of recognition or support, ultimately leading to burnout.
The good thingsNo middle management, all HR was based interstate.
The challengesSome of the equity partners, especially in dispute resolution and property were very self serving and arrogant, they forget that in the grand scheme of things, going on in the world, they're just lawyers working in Adelaide.

    Do not work here, run!
The good thingsI made some good friends there
The challengesDo not work here unless you’re prepared to lose your sanity and get a psychological injury. Extremely toxic culture and inappropriate behaviour is encouraged by the partners who actively choose to protect the perpetrators. Worst place to work, just run.

Good training, good clients, terrible team to work with.
The good thingsA good variety of work in property law. You also have more responsibility with your files. Some solicitors are willing to train you and teach you so you will learn a lot. The clients are also good to work with.
The challengesVery unfriendly team and management. They will throw you under the bus without blinking an eye. You can have 1000 successful files, one bad file and you're in the bad books for a year with management. I.e. you need to be a robot to work here.

A great learning experience which set me up for many future goals and experiences
The good thingsGood team environment and encouragement from other staff members. During my time the HR and Management teams were lacking in communication skills and likeability within the groups however i have heard that this culture has changed a lot wtih change of staff
The challengesThe work life balance is not very well managed. There were weeks where i would work 12-13 hours per day everyday and with a 2 hour commute it was challenging.
