    Avoid and look elsewhere.
The good thingsWorking on a variety of events and exhibitions provides exposure to the industry.
The challengesThey only care about upper management and executives. There is limited opportunity for career growth. Low pay for long hours. You are only a number, senior management lack empathy and they do not look after staff.

Work in here if want to get experience with event work.
The good thingsStaff meals provided as well as tea and coffee, plenty of staff lockers for belongings. weekly pay and transport at the door.
The challengesFloor managers play favourites with staff, as well as lack of communication between all staff. Managers would ring staff personally if you havent come for your shift, instead of going through rostering, which found strange. Staff numbers were published on timesheets for everyone to see - breach of privacy. High staff turn over, and use lots of agency staff for dinner shifts.

A good casual job, a good experience, a good team environment.
The good thingsGreat People to work with. Managers in Event Setup were also great. You can also look to your team to assist in areas you are not familiar with. Beautiful building and great to be around many events.
The challengesSometimes, can be very busy and a stressful environment. Can get repetitive too at times. Its a casual job so its good temporarily.

Poor Management... Maybe other departments are better
The good thingsI enjoyed my time during the honeymoon period eg 3 months after that the secretion show begins.
The challengesA whole lot of talk with no follow through. No work life balance for full timers and not enough work for casuals in the quiet season. You are better off as agency due to the fact the management here is poor.

Great as a stepping stone for career. Don't stay for too long.
The good thingsIt's nice to be able to experience the range of events that occurs at the venue here. You also get offered some free tickets to some events.
The challengesThe culture is shifting into whomever makes the noise loudest gets the most acknowledgement and recognition. There is a lack of relationship between management and its staff as it leads into a more strict and jail like system with measures of monitoring your work instead of the natural fundamentals of trusting each other. Lack of any initiative or investment to truly grow and mentor its staff.
