The good thingsMy managers were accommodating to shift changes and appointments. I had some really good co - workers/ managers, and some terrible ones.
The challengesStressful always being over stocked. Issues passed to Upper Management and consistently no resolution. Staff that stay employed with little skill set. Getting respect and acknowledgement for your work.

The good thingsGreat Management, great place to work, merchandising is the fun part, clothing allowance when managing came in handy.
The challengesStores closing suddenly with very little notice.

Not the best, not the absolute worst - could go either way
The good thingsStaff discount was good, and that was about it
The challengesHorrible toxic staff members which managers don't deal with properly. Management unfriendly and unsupportive. KPIs were often unobtainable and there was a huge focus on this. Systems are super old and clunky.

Best Retailer in Australia, Fantastic people culture and leadership support
The good thingsAmazing culture, caring executive and leadership at at levels, fantastic support, great work life balance, realistic goals and expectations with ongoing training and coaching. Hands down one of the best retailers to work for in Australia. They actually do what they say as per their values and vision and care for employees.
The challengesDespite of having to face the usual challenges similar to any retail environment the support and state and regional management made it so much easier to navigate through them. Salary isn’t competitive.

    Very supportive Company
The good thingsVery fair. Good morals.
The challengesYou had to work to reach KPI's and target's but if you make it fun, it's not too hard - higher management is very supportive to help you get there

    I wouldn't recommend.
The good thingsThe coworkers were friendly
The challengesManagement treat you like another number. Massive expectations with no thanks or acknowledgement. No sense of positive work atmosphere from upper management, no social events or opportunities to work with other staff. Often working on your own even in significant sale events. No training opportunities. No commission or opportunities to make extra money. Minimum wage only. Difficult when you want to take leave.

Staff discounts are a great perk, the team of people you get to meet and work along side of are amazing, however, the company's management style needs a lot of work - too many people get overworked and underappreciated.
The good thingsStaff discounts were amazing and the friendships developed working with a range of different team members.
The challenges- Being micromanaged, and treated like another a number by the company's management. - Not being given any further learning opportunities. - Having to work in an environment that purely picks on people's flaws and disguises this as 'constructive' criticism. - Having to compete for and hustle to get decent shifts, because the stores are given too low a budget for fair work hour contracts for permanent part timers.

    A rudderless boat
The good thingsDenim product is actually good quality and customers are mostly loyal.
The challengesManagement has no strategy and no interest in development of it's staff. New owners are exactly same as previous so don't expect any change to values or culture.

Many ups, many downs, but overall wouldn’t change a thing!
The good thingsThe people are wonderful! Going to work everyday is so much easier when you can feel supported by your peers and management team.
The challengesThe retail industry has been particularly difficult over the past year or two and the effects can certainly be felt at work.

After 8 years in the industry, this was the final nail in my fashion industry coffin.
The good thingsThe people were great.
The challengesManagement were extremely unclear of direction they were wanting to take the collections in. They were very scared to try anything new and I believe the product and sales have suffered terribly as a result.

High hopes and dreams only to be degraded by temp management.
The good thingsThe opportunity to work with such a fantastic community of mixed cultures and walks of life.
The challengesTo get by with virtually no training and watch higher up staff take credit for your hard work in the sales department. Minimal hours given, when more were guaranteed in the interview. Trying to keep a smile and positive attitude when being put down by temp management.

    Overworked and underappreciated
The good thingsThey predominately only hire permanent staff which makes for job stability
The challengesThe company is extremely disorganised due to trying to cut costs in all places. This has impacted everything from the quality and amount of stock to sell to shifts not being adequately covered by staff because of low wage allowances. If you work anywhere but the major shopping centres, the vast majority of your shifts will be by yourself, therefore it is extremely challenging to take your legally entitled breaks or go to the restroom. Given that the vast majority of staff are permanent combined with low numbers of staff per store, it is extremely hard to cover shifts and leads to staff being overworked.
