Great if you feel like being back in high school
The good thingsThe staff were great for the most part, very fast paced environment and the staff travel was great when you got to use it. Free parking at the airport, and being able to swap shifts.
The challengesManagement not being flexible, favouritism in the workplace. Shifts were often rostered at 4.75 hours so meal breaks didn't have to be provided.

it's okay. work/life balance is pretty poor though.
The good thingsStaff travel can be a benefit to you and your friends/family if you are more easy-going/flexible. 6 weeks annual leave per year. Some of the crew are nice, have made good friends there. Day-to-day duties are the same, provides monotony, don't have to think on the fly too much in my experience.
The challengesCannot randomly ask for leave, have to bid for leave and days off well in advance. may not always get them. Early sign ons, late sign offs, overnight flights sometimes all in the one week = fatigue. "fatigue management" is a lie. They do not care barely get off the aircraft/not a lot of job travel

Toxic management, and lack of development
The good thingsStaff Travel, other discounts
The challengesManagement KPI's are not in line with Staff KPI's so you are often pressured to do tasks that are irrelevant and time consuming so your manager looks good but so you are behind in your work making your performance not look as good. Career progression - no clear way to develop, or be considered for opportunity

The challengesDealing with Jetstar disruptions - cancellations, downgrades and off schedule flights. Difficult angry customers.

Fun experience but not a career.
The good thingsThe people are the best part of the job making life long friendships, And of course the staff travel too.
The challengesHours are extremely hard as can start at 4am one morning then the next day start at 7pm finish at 6am, crew are all overworked and fatigued.

Some people love aviation and that's the only reason you'd go there.
The good thingsSome staff travel benefits - when it works, it's great!
The challengesExcessive workload, extremely poor management and very little team bonding due to the pressures put upon the limited workforce that is in place.

Great way to end my flying career of 11 years.
The good thingsLoved working for JQ until Covid-19 changed the world. Plenty of work and money to be made if you’re willing to work for it. Great crew! Almost everyone. Before COVID-19, the trips were amazing. I was very lucky to have a great manager who was supportive and professional but I was also the type of person that took pride in how I worked so I never had an issue when I needed assistance. You will either love this job or hate it. I really hope that Aviation returns to normal for the future Flight Attendants.
The challengesShift work (didn’t bother me but would bother some), delays, that work like balance, missing special events.

A position that shapes you. You learn a lot over time and how to manage challenging situations.
The good thingsNo day is ever the same. Working with so many different people. Learning new things each and every day. Staff travel.
The challengesLong shifts, occasional delays, challenging passengers at times.

    a good company overall
The good thingsoverall a good company to work for with good leadership and opportunities for internal promotion
The challengesconstantly short staffed being a low-cost company, opportunities for promotion are there but they will pay you significantly less than an external hire

Great place to work provided you don't mind the fast pace
The good thingsGreat work environment, with great travel perks. Culture was fun and and inclusive. Overall a good bunch of people to work with who didn't take themselves too seriously but knew how to knuckle down when required.
The challengesThe constant cost pressures made it feel like you were on a constant hamster wheel trying to keep up with what management deemed to be a priority this week. New processes implemented with little direction about how they would work, and sometimes poor communication from leadership about big changes that would be affecting staff. Constant meddling by Qantas trying to change the priorities of the Jetstar group to whatever they felt was important instead of letting Jetstar run as a seperate entity.

I love the opportunities i have experienced, the colleagues and the freedom this job has given me to be myself.
The good thingsThere is nothing else like being cabin crew. It is hard to explain. The job is repetitive, but no day is the same. Everyday I work with different people, the working environment is small and you work for long periods of time with the same people. You become very close, very quickly. It is a high pressure customer service and safety role whilst working with your best friends everyday.
The challengesWorking with a low cost carrier means that you are not able to fulfill customer expectations. There are many times that you will be late, you will not finish on time and you will not be able to attend important social events due to work commitments. There is also the challenge of working with the general public on an aircraft. It is hard to get anyone to obey rules and passengers will argue with you all the time. There are constant issues with resources, safety and opinions. It is not easy.

    Brilliant.
The good thingsAbsolutely phenomenal place to work. Think small company vibe but on a large scale. Very open to new ideas from anyone, no matter your title. You work hard, but you also learn a lot and can move about the business to learn different areas easily.
The challengesBeing a LCC, we are lean and it can mean hard work. It's a plus if you want to learn more.

The people were great a real can do attitude, it's a low-cost version of Qantas and has a lot of bureaucracy.
The good thingsAttitudes and work ethic
The challengesQANTAS influence, I personally found a culture of influence that was not always of benefit and was surprised at some of the legacy concepts still in place. It is something that a lot of legacy airlines struggle with when the senior management has only ever worked in the one business.

Unprofessional, negative environment where you are treated as a number and not valued for your work ethic or skills.
The good thingsThe staff travel and my day to day colleagues.
