Watching the younger staff do all the wrong things but getting away with it because they were cheaper or prettier was so frustrating.
The good thingsGetting to know the customers that come in regularly. The staff discount.
The challengesAlways being overlooked by staff. I worked hard but got little appreciation for it. Always left alone to run store or stock. 50c extra to be the key holder (manager)

Should of left a long time ago, loyalty & honesty means nothing to the owner
The good thingsAdmin staff are lovely
The challengesManagement can’t / won’t (don’t appreciate) honesty and listen to all the wrong people who are in the circle but not necessarily loyal. So if you are vocal or stand up for yourself or others you better watch out

My favourite job so far! They actually care about you!
The good thingsLowes menswear is an amazing workplace, with great staff who are understanding and support you with anything and everything, they are motivating, and nothing is a mistake, just an opportunity for more learning. In the short time ive worked for lowes, i know that I'll be working by my colleagues side for a long time! I love my staff and our are manager is absolutely amazing.
The challengesLowes isnt a difficult place to work in, you have a very realistic budget and very acheivable goals.

11 years at Lowes, great until the last 4 years during which most changes have been for the worse
The good thingsThe best thing about Lowes is the staff. Full stop. And by staff I'm specifically referring to the lower/middle management. The job itself is fairly easy and you have a great work life balance. The pay isn't terrible but not fantastic either.
The challengesUpper level management will run the company into the ground. There has recently been a 'long term staff' exodus with many people who have worked 10+ years (including myself) leaving in droves due to the ridiculous pressure they're put under for such average remuneration.

One of the best companies I have worked for!
The good thingsWork/Life balance Great support network Team orientated Feel as if you’re one of the family
The challengesWhen I first started with Lowe’s (August 2019) I was assistant manager in our Mandurah store, I found this a bit challenging. Simply due to the fact that I have been a store manager for 5 years with other companies. I just felt that I needed a more challenging role.

The good thingsStaff discount, the staff in the shops.
The challengesHead office giving so much more work in store for the same money. Not very good communication. Low wage for the amount of work you do. If you join company will need to do the union.

The good thingsA very inclusive environment, Upper management are always encouraging. A real family environment.

Amazing as a first or second job but unless you're hired as management, it's not a job that will grow with you
The good thingsAt my location, I really enjoyed who I worked with as well as our cleanliness. Most of our customers are kind and respectful and we have fantastic regular customers too.
The challengesCommunication from our Head Office and beyond is worse than terrible at an in-store level. Can be busy at times (School Holidays, Christmas, Fathers Day, etc.)

Overall working at Lowes is an enjoyable experience. It is what you make it. If you have the drive and eagerness to learn and improve, you should have no problem, of course depending on your subordinates.
The good thingsLowes, for the most part, provides an extremely enjoyable work environment, although I'm sure it depends on your Area and Store Manager. Staff discount is generous and the 9 - 5 hours are great for anyone who doesn't want to be working late. Generally, the teams are friendly and build strong bonds.
The challengesTaking in High Volumes of stock is one of the biggest challenges. Expected to put out and merchandise upwards of 50 boxes a day at peak times whilst also serving, tidying and filling can be fairly stressful. Schoolwear is a huge issue and needs to be sorted. Dealing with School Parents has to be the worst part of the whole job.

    No rest for the wicked.
The good thingsThe best thing about working at Lowes was the people I got to work with; alongside the occasional funny, friendly, and witty customer (which is a given with retail).
The challengesThe challenge I faced was the type of work I had to do. One concern form the manger was the size of the workload (which was no issue); instead it was the type of work that held the most influence to my performance, as expected with no prior training or experience. This was solely due to my lack of knowledge on clothing, and therefore selling products was a challenge. I believe if I were to be placed in an area with more familiarity, I would (with no doubt) be more fluent and effective.

A great job to gain retail experience, working along side the friendliest of co-workers.
The good thingsThe environment in which you work is very tight-knit. You make great friends with the team members in your store as well as neighbouring Lowes stores. Staff discount is good. Everyone is friendly, compassionate and well trained.
The challengesNot too many that stand out.

Would have been a great place to work if all promises were provided, staff were treated like trusted humans and the professionals they employ.
The good thingsThe Promises made to you at the beginning and all the way through make it sound like it is a good opportunity.
The challengesThe lack of trust, poor income with no promised bonuses, poor communication.

Best company I have worked for
The good thingsI started out as a casual with Lowe’s and just in 4 months I was able to grow with the company and work my way to assistant store manager, the support and encouragement from the team was amazing and something I have never received from any other workplace. Can not recommend enough.
The challengesThere has not been too much I have found really challenging apart from expected things such as product knowledge, which is something you pick up quickly whilst on the job.

Fantastic company. would do it all again in a heartbeat.
The good thingsAn experience of a lifetime. Lowes has by far the best people I have had the pleasure of working with, and as a company can provide as much career progression as you are willing to work for. Starting as a casual I worked my way up to the role of manager, and the road doesn't stop there if you're willing to apply yourself. I've found that unlike some other companies out there, at Lowes if you want it, you can achieve it. Company training is keeping up with modern technology, and any further training you require is available on request. The experience you can gather in a myriad of different fields and areas of expertise is fantastic. Knowing that you can pick up the phone to someone in any branch or position in the company and get the support you need is one of the best things about the role. Every day is a little bit different, and there's always new challenges on the horizon. This lends a good deal of variety to the day to day workings in your role, and provide a good change of pace. If you like working for a company with a great team spirit, and being able to exercise a bit of creativity then this is the role for you.
The challengesThe usual challenges that come with retail, i.e. busy seasonal periods, volume stock. Nothing that can't be overcome with good organisational skills.
