If you’re considering a job at Lowes Petroleum Service, be aware that while there are good employees who genuinely care, the management struggles to lead effectively. The culture isn’t supportive, and positive change is often blocked. It can be frustrating if you’re looking for a workplace that values its people and their efforts.
The good thingsLowes Petroleum Service has some great employees who work hard and genuinely care about making things better. Unfortunately, their efforts are often overlooked, and they don’t always get the support they deserve.
The challengesManagement at Lowes Petroleum Service struggles to lead effectively and improve the workplace culture. Poor decisions and a lack of direction make it hard for positive change to happen.

Overall, a great place to work!
The good thingsExcellent internal culture- friendly, professional, respectful Staff generally are very well supported. Excellent onboarding. Stable company. Great perks.
The challengesNot as flexible as some- with a predominantly regional workforce, they're still grappling with what formal, modern flexible workplace arrangements look like for those few working in the major urban areas.

Definitely a business I can see myself working in long term, a friendly supportive management team with a great culture which is filtering through all employees in the business.
The good thingsFriendly and supportive team, family business feel, safety focussed, long term partnership with BP Australia gives great job security, company history.
The challengesKeeping up with fleet replacement, a lot is being done to renew fleet, industry wide delays in getting new equipment is challenging.

Absolutely awesome company to work for, supportive staff and management teams, would recommend this company highly for any future employees.
The good thingsExcellent company to work for, good variety of work, excellent management support, continuous ongoing training and development strategy’s to ensure a safe work environment. Recognising the efforts of employees through employees rewards programs, considerate and empathetic towards staff in difficult personal circumstances. Competitive pay rates within the industry it serves.
The challengesIt’s just unfortunate that recruitment of new employees is often difficult due to industry shortages, making it more challenging to existing employees.

Best place i have ever worked
The good thingsGreat opportunities to be had if you show initiative and put your hand up. Management would always go out of their way to help no matter what depot i spent time in, you can still find the small close knit business feel in some parts of the business. Always paid on time, Competitive Pay rates with other fuel companies, an Upper management team who treats you like an equal
The challengesShift work - the rolling roster with the midnight starts was a killer Mobile phone policy - Never agreed with it, needs to be relaxed to at least allow music and podcasts via bluetooth

Was good at the start, but can't and won't say that now.
The good thingsSome of the Drivers and very little management that have driving backgrond
The challengesThe overall roster, never the same start time (HOT swapping), always relying on drivers to be on time, fatigue management issues, the supposed fatigue cameras that don't work correctly and trigger when not required to do so then being called in to explain why the camera activated, not correctly maintained equipment always breaking down, fatigue management issues, No work life balance

You must have a strong work ethic and desire to comply with Health and Safety, I would recommend to anyone with these values to come on Board.
The good thingsThe potential available for progression and advancement. The day to day activity is varied. Working in a company where the environment feels like family and the strong safety culture. I have no intention of going anywhere else where i know things are not done as they should be.
The challengesIt can be challenging leading my team to uphold the high standards of the business, this requires all staff to buy into what we are trying to achieve.

A great company for motivated people. Good work ethic is rewarded.
The good thingsA variety of tasks, good level of responsibility and opportunities for advancement. Management take safety and training seriously. Requests for work-life balance considered and approved where possible and appropriate.
The challengesThe physical distance between locations can be challenging, however the company provides many tools and software programs to overcome these issues and collaborate efficiently.

Lowes is a great place to work, going on 10 years and no reason to leave.
The good thingsGreat place to work. Senior management always approachable and supportive. A business that understands the balance of work and family life. A business that will never put you or themselves at risk. There is the ability to move with in the company to grow and develop, opportunities for additional training to improve ones skill set.
The challengesA business built on great work ethics and culture. New staff that choose not to abide by company rules or policies putting us all at risk, and when exposed giving us a poor review for an error of there own.

If you have a settled, stable job at the moment, stay there!!!!!!!!!
The good thingsThe work is by far the best in the industry. If you are looking for regional work.
The challengesThe micro managing is a distraction. Especially from managers with little knowledge of the work that you do. Getting called in the office every other day because of incidental, minute issues takes your focus away from completing your tasks. Very long hours are expected. You need fatigue management for a reason and you will use all of the hours. A tonne of duplicating paperwork makes the job twice as long as it should be. The turnover of staff that this company has, must say something about the amount of time you should expect to stay here for. If you have a stable job at the moment. Don’t leave it to come here. It’s just not worth it.

It would be a good job as a casual console operator
The good thingsThe best part of being a site manager was the people that I had working with me in store, we had a good bunch of regular customers that made it pleasant
The challengesIt was difficult due to lack of support from those in more senior management roles, people put into senior roles with no idea how to perform even the basic tasks necessary. I was paid the same as a console operator but managing the site from front to back and despite being told when being offered the job that I would be put on permanent I was still casual after 12 Months.

Save yourself the stress and look elsewhere for a company that values what you can offer!
The good thingsI miss the customers but leaving was the best thing about this toxic work environment.
The challengesUpper management are one dimensional, weak, often under qualified and lack direction. Don't readily accept newcomers, poor behaviour of staff is tolerated/encouraged by upper management. Relatively outdated and backwards company. Reactive as opposed to proactive, not what you expect to hear about a petroleum company.

Was employed as office administrator, was asked to manage site, due to insufficient support, changed to console operator.
The good thingsEnjoyed the customer interaction and the role. Worked with a fantastic team locally. Hours were pretty good.
The challengesThis is Lowes BP, as opposed to BP independents. Not enough training. No job security, only employ casuals. Hierarchy not supportive enough.
