Lovely workers, horrible customersThe good thingsAbsolutely lovely coworkers, I miss working alongside them. If your an arts student or in the entertainment industry you are definitely going to make friends here! Also super cool to see how the park runs and the behind the scenes of it all.
The challengesPersonally I can struggle dealing with really horrible customers, and unfortunately I dealt with many at Luna Park. The main complaints were the ticket prices or rides being closed, and simply relaying this information to guests led to me being yelled at, cursed at, among other many angry comments directed at me. I understand that working in customer service you will always face upset people, but although I never took the remarks personally, it made me feel anxious to come into work. I think that the managers could put more in place to protect its workers from this kind of hostile behaviour, as it is something I've never experienced at any of my other customer service jobs, and it does take a toll. Again, Luna Park isn't responsible for these kind of horrible people, but it is the main reason I left.
I'd also like to mention that unfortunately like many other large workplaces they often cut or change shifts at the last moment, sometimes meaning that people miss their break/mealtime.
