Coin to be made but not fantastic workplace
The good thingsSome people were nice to work along side, when sales were made while it was busy commission was good
The challengescommission clawed back when not your fault, management don't really listen at times a lot of talking not enough action, unfair treatment at times, poor work life balance, backstabbing within team, push you out if they don't want you there

MD and CEO run it like a dictatorship
The good thingsThe sales people I worked with were helpful
The challengesManagement are arrogant from the top down and no longer care for their customers. Foreign owner now only cares about the profits and how to grow EBIT. They manipulate and bark orders daily, create high levels of stress to their staff and punch sales people while they are already down in slow markets

Nothing but unpleasant, while I worked through lunches, overtime everyday and was treated like I wasn't working hard enough. There is no reward for hard work, just more harder work. Do not take this job if you have kids, pets or value your mental health.
The good thingsDO NOT TAKE THIS JOB. No work/life balance (you will be working weekends, and overtime everyday). Extremely high stress (alot of pressure with no support, unreasonable deadlines, and unachievable KPIs). Hire and fire culture (I was told before I started not to take this job, but I took it and regret it, it's awful). The pay is a joke for what you will be doing, there are no bonuses or perks, for the stress and hours worked. (Expect 50k max)
The challengesSales selling houses that were non-compliant. Deadlines being unreasonable. Management being egocentric. Worked to exhaustion then worked even harder.

Great learning curve because I chose for myself to grow and learn. Very low stimulation from seniors. They more of celebrating high-school tactics than professionalism. Low integrity driven management.
The good thingsGreat place for gossip and chitchat
The challengesVery difficult to progress in career if not friend with management.

Great culture amongst the ops team, to put it simply - I enjoy working at MJH at the moment.
The good thingsGreat culture amongst the drafting team and wider operations team. Everyone gets along, there are no egos, and no silos. Makes it easer to complete work and resolve any issues that arise.
The challengesThere seems to be a short supply of coffee in the Sydney office, some of the staff seem to really struggle without it.

Working for MJH has been incredible, in the near future if I decide I want to go back into the industry, I will not hesitate to go back to MJH.
The good thingsWorking for McDonald Jones has been an absolute pleasure. Management are always willing to guide you and assist you in progressing further in your role. The cultural aspect of the team has provided me with long term friendships and made working at MJH a great experience. The team treat each other as if they are family members and no one gets left behind. Definitely a team I will miss. There are many opportunities to grow with the business and they always ensure they recognise team members who do well in their job by providing rewards and acknowledgements.
The challengesLearning the programs and processes can take time, be ready to work every weekend.

MJH is a great career move!
The good thingsOur local team are always happy to assist me with any challenges and hurdles that I may have. They are a pleasure to work with. There are many opportunities to grow with the business. The business has made sure I have felt appreciated and rewarded. Dealing with customers everyday is very rewarding and I love that I contributed to helping someone find their dream home. The training opportunities are fantastic, there are not many companies around that have annual Sales Conference dedicated to celebrating their staff.
The challengesThe internal systems can be slow to learn, in which there are many many steps. Be prepared to work every weekend and have many late nights.

no work life balance; life has been miserable by pressure from management. it sucks
The good thingsThe systems are good and the opportunity work and to get a role into a large NSW builder is the only label you would take working with this builder.
The challengeseveryday is a challenges. the work pressure has given me bad dreams and headches every day. things are getting worse from mid 2019 onwards, after the construction industry has gone downhill. employee is like a number for management.

Loved every minute of it, the management were great, and it's a crying shame a change in my circumstances meant I had to leave prematurely, would go back in a heartbeat.
The good thingsThe people, the training and support was all there to help you be as effective a seller as you could be. Great culture in the Canberra team and really great General Manager who was always open, empathetic, communicative and supportive. It helps when they have a diverse range of stock that is all of very high quality, so you can believe in what you're selling, and they educate you on your product so you can educate your customers.
The challengesLike anywhere, getting used to the idiosyncrasies of their systems is an initial challenge, but once you're into it and they've trained you, it's really pretty easy.

Good to start with but over time exasperating and disappointing.
The good thingsThe majority of the other staff were friendly. The work was interesting and at times challenging.
The challengesIn the initial stages it was great management were accessible, visible and open to discussion. It went downhill from there. They don't want to know and don't want to listen.
