You have to go through the bad to get to the good in life, I quit journalism which was horrible to pursue a much healthier career and life.
The good thingsYou can move up quite quickly because there is a huge turn over staff but you'll find yourself in a role your are probably not trained to handle with more work than you can do. The stress is not worth it.
The challengesWorking in media was a horrible experience. In the first year, I never took a lunch break and regularly worked 12-14 hour shifts. I also went home and did more work. Some days I'd wake up at 4am to start writing having gone to bed at about 12am, there was way more work than I could fit into the hours in a day. When I expressed concerns to management there was no guidance and very little if any feedback ever - it was all just about getting the paper out the next day no matter what.
