Technology Senior PMO Manager - Not equal opportunity
The good things- Excellent life balance - Very nice people from Operation and Project teams
The challengesCurrently it is a culture that does not support equal opportunity which is mainly due to the management style of the PMO Manager and Senior Manager

    Where to start?
The good thingsEnjoyed working with variety of groups. Lots of projects at the same time. Applied for Facilities and worked as a standard engineer.
The challengesThe list below are some of the challenges. The biggest challenge was some management not ready to embrace changes that are better for the Airport. Unorganised engineering functions to collaborate. Getting electrical and mechanical assets in the asset register. Trying to optimise MAXIMO usage. Trying to get involved with projects. Reducing the amount of substations and connecting them to internet. Getting the exact amount of electricity consumption total and per square meter whole and per individual areas. Trying to centralise data centres and working out redundancies. Trying to bring standard 230v supply and reduction of 3 phase use per floor. Trying to remove and limit power out lets in public areas. Explaining lightening protection and protection circuits also the dangers of generating power in an airport environment. Looking at future development and electrical/mechanical requirements. Standardisation of all High voltage to a lower level. Upgrading electrical/mechanical services to individual terminal as standalone. Creating a engineering airport museum and a recreation/gym area for staff and airport users. There were no detail electrical or mechanical reticulation diagrams.

    Admin Assistant

    An exciting environment
The good thingsMy first assignment was for 10 weeks and was terrific. I worked with a great group of people, and started to learn about the aviation industry. I was then given another opportunity to work in the main office in the terminal building, providing admin support to the Aviation Operations team.
The challengesWorking with systems that don't work together; starting in a new role and having limited knowledge of the industry is difficult. It is a highly complex environment and one that will take time to learn.

Working airside is like one endless first date, the right decision will lead to pleasure, but the wrong one can end in tears.
The good thingsWorking airside is a truly unique experience. There is not a single workplace like it. It can be exciting, terrifying, rewarding and challenging all in one day.
The challengesYou will pitentially be on edge from start to finish. There is no room for error. Lives can literally hang in the balance of your decision making. This is no casual, run of the mill, relaxing workplace.
