Fantastic way to run a project, utilising domain experts in project roles rather than IT people, excellent experience.
The good thingsI was casual, on an IT project, but it utilised people from the business - medical folk - who were passionate and invested, and also intelligent. It meant issues were obvious early and tackled much more effectively than in a standard IT project.
The challengesIf you're from a non-medical background it can be challenging being surrounded by domain experts, and feeling like you're uninformed. And also, occupying the time of busy people to be trained.

    Improvement needed in Software development
The good thingsWork life balance & Additional Day off by working extra 30 minutes every day.
The challengesWorkplace needs to be improved with proper desk & cubicles. Software development should given prior importance to Australians rather than offshore. Micro management in Guidance IT team is good for product development. No permanent employment.

Staring into the stars and still wondering
The good thingsTheir logo looks nice.
The challengesApplying for jobs is a task enough nowadays but when one does take your eye, and if you've got some level of 'conscientiousness' in your nature, then you'd probably have some questions about the role before applying. I mean, you don't want to waste everyone's time, do you? Melbourne Health were good enough to provide a contact name and number on the job ad but the problem is that they never answered their phone or returned messages. Perhaps they're too busy, perhaps something is wrong with their phone system, or perhaps they just can't be bothered. I'm leaning to the latter. This particular role took my interest enough that I tried on six occasions to get through before the application closed. First time applicant there, as well. I also took note of the application and interview procedures - boy, with all that rigmarole it is no wonder that they haven't got time to answer the phone, and I was already too tired to apply after considering the process. Some may wonder why I've bothered to write all of this but after watching their feel-good video on how great a place this is to work, I thought I'd give it a go. I can sort of understand why they haven't responded to my calls though. After all, my name and number probably wasn't already saved in their phones?

    Incredibly disappointing
The good thingsWearing scrubs, any supposed kudos from working at the RMH on the resume, centrally located.
The challengesPreferential promotions of friends, no recognition based on merit and actual work performance, no opportunity for career profession, poor moral and sense of team work ie people working to their own self interest doing as little effort as possible, management slow to make decisions. Lost all respect when instead of addressing appalling performance (making staff cry and continual complaints from patients and family) management & educators provided references and support to the disruptive staff member move to a different area.

Great place to work with good opporitunities available for those who want to work hard
The good thingsI’ve worked for this company for over 4 years now and have had numerous opportunities for development. If you put the work and effort in, the rewards will come your way
The challengesLike any health service, it struggles with all of the usual issues of a large public hospital, that said, Melbourne Heath attempts to address these regularly and senior management are very supportive

Good while it lasted, but I'll only miss the people!
The good thingsGreat colleagues, relatively autonomous roles, pay was good compared to private sector.
The challengesDepartment policy of 6 month rolling contracts and very little notice of contract renewal left staff hanging in the balance until a few days before contract expiry, 'managers' with no people skills, constant management turnover, lack of employee consultation on matters impacting their work, constant rumours of departmental downsizing reduced morale significantly.

Very poor. i would not recommend it to anyone.
The good thingsnot much to say. It is a poor place to work. Work life balance is quite poor and management don't want to implement good polices instead sticking to poor policies in spite of adverse outcomes.
The challengespoor management, culture of secrecy and protectionism for management, no opportunities for growth and development.
