I've been here since the pandemic and unfortunately the administration has drastically worsened...
The good thingsSupportive coworkers and plenty of shift opportunities. Good casual pay and multiple cafe choices on site.
The challengesExtremely high pressure and mentally exhausting. Chronic staff shortages and severely overbooked clinics are the norm. Even when you raise concerns with management, little can be done due to public sector funding limitations. Staff parking isn't even free.

Significant improvement is needed in leadership alignment and practical support for frontline staff
The good thingsSupportive colleagues and a cooperative team environment
The challengesLeadership decisions can feel disconnected from day-to-day operational realities, with limited consideration of staff workload and priorities. Changes and initiatives often increase complexity without consistently addressing core issues

Geriatric care with a side of ward nursing. Have good boundaries, and know your worth.
The good thingsI enjoyed the fact that they have Cerna and are not paper based. They have a large car parking building near by Nurses and Jnr staff can be really fun to work with
The challengesSenior Nursing staff - are just unavailable. They delegate down and only seem to get involved when it suits them. The rise and rise of bed block, and aged care of last resort means your patients are generally geriatric and 'full nursing care' means generally bed bound and aggressive. This in turn can create uncivil working areas. A few nurses and nurse managers are burnt out and can't self manage, so that is a feature. Management is asleep at the wheel - which also means they are pretty hands off and only get involved around accreditation.

    Keep looking - don't recommend
The good thingsVaried role, lots of good colleagues, flexible working hours, fast paced
The challengesNo proper training, major nepotism, petty and hostile team encouraged to dob in each other by manager, little feedback or support from manager all the way to higher up, manager lacks accountability or professionalism, favourites rewarded, unfair distribution of leave, lack of communication. lots of lazy staff not reprimanded for taking long breaks or wandering around away from area, icare values not upheld, lots of experienced staff have left

I am glad to be able to deliver work that matters, but I’m not sure it’s worth it
The good thingsThe people care deeply about providing care
The challengesPeople are very reactive and don’t know how to plan or be strategic. Management expectations are not aligned with what’s achievable, operational processes do not work and Digital staff are not remunerated for the work they do. It’s also very stressful.

    Toxic and non support organization
The good thingsWorked with some good people
The challengesToxic environment, disconnected management, no support and their people & culture department don't support you when needed. If you ask for support or if your having issues they direct you to EAP but won't support you themselves.

If looking for a healthy, supportive & fair workplace do not work here. Nepotism from upper management down, runs deep.
The good thingsSome great colleagues who have now also left
The challengesNepotism. New manager toxic, lacking in ability, integrity & morals is supported by upper management & still working there

Until the stale social work management culture is reviewed, recruitment & retention problems will continue. Compliance with EAs and some top managers’ skills & knowledge need to be reviewed too
The good thingsGreat colleagues, families and patients. Inspiring work. Other internal tea s are terrific.
The challengesSW management culture in my repeated experience is uninspiring, reactive and lacks integrity around remuneration to staff members and lacks self-reflection or ability to accept feedback to improve. Long-term retention & recruitment problems that are wasting tax payer money is not seen as a problem.

Do not apply to work here.
The good thingsThe junior staff and non-senior (non-PLT, non-team leader staff) are usually helpful, and willing to teach whenever there are uncertainties, questions. There are a lot of opportunities to conduct continuous education sessions and.
The challengesSenior management don’t care about anything but themselves. Staff career and grade progression is impossible, portfolio by merit is an absolute farce unless you have fulfilled their endless list of requests or have completed residency, but residency is automatically offered to everyone with positions only 8 per year. No support on extra busy days on the ward, you are working as an isolated individual and the team leaders are too busy with meetings and paper work to care. Extremely rigid operational workflow procedures. Excessive workload, for low pay and junior position and staying back unpaid to finish work.

Disrespectful Senior Management who only cares about themselves and their reputation.
The good thingsGood Staff but Disrespectful Senior Management
The challengesThe Management iCare values of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect and excellence are the complete opposite. They have NO integrity, NO compassion, Never accountability, NO respect and No excellence towards their staff and patients

    Great colleagues, toxic management.
The good thingsWonderful colleagues working the floor.
The challengesManagement was appalling, unsupportive, constantly paying lip service but never actioning any change. Not at all supportive of people's health care choices. ICARE values don't actually mean a thing in reality on this organisation.

Most are very generous and helpful at Monash.
The good thingsStudy hard and you can advance
The challengesDon’t feel admin have the backs of their employees. In the past anyway. Also when changing to bank after 12 years of service, I had to resign to get my long service leave paid at senior rate. Now have to start over. Think very unfair. Others have no issues in doing so.
