Tread carefully, as they say don’t judge a book by it’s cover…
The good thingsGreat team culture / environment.
The challengesEnormous emotional & stressful environment, people employed in positions that they do not have the skill set nor the ability to undertake.
Business has a very immature clientele.
Overall, the business is paranoid of change, too stuck in their ways because “that’s always the way we’ve always done it”

Solid experience in manufacturing, but improvement needed in safety cultureNeumann Steel offers a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment with a strong legacy in the steel industry. The workforce on the floor is experienced and committed, and there’s genuine pride in the quality of product output.
However, from a WHS perspective, the business faces significant challenges. Safety systems are reactive rather than proactive, and while senior leadership expresses support for safety, this isn’t always reflected in actions or resourcing. Much of the safety compliance rests on informal knowledge rather than structured systems, which creates risk during high-risk tasks.
There's room for improvement in reporting culture, control implementation, manual handling and contractor coordination.
For those looking to build practical experience in heavy industry Neumann Steel offers valuable exposure. It won’t suit professionals expecting robust systems or a mature safety culture without resistance.

Was run by old school men who lived in the past and disliked anyone coming from interstate because of the Union influence. $10 per hour as well.
The good thingsJust a job. Early starts Late Finishes.
The challengesStaying awake at the wheel. The management couldn't understand how the workers would be asking for a pay rise!! Most were on $10 p/h Long term employees we just a number. After looking at the reviews it seems not a lot has changed .

Fine for a year or 2, but there are a lot better jobs out there.
The good thingsGreat people, good location, weekly pay.
The challengesInept management, questionable work environment (Air quality and noise levels were appalling) and just low safety standards in general. Little to no career progression opportunities whatsoever.

Great company to kickstart your career at!
The good thingsAn iconic family business on the Gold Coast, which takes pride in promoting internally and helping the community.
Neumann Steel has given me a career and I am forever grateful.
I started work in the factory and have worked my way up, through multiple departments and have built a solid foundation for my career going forward.
The challengesCommunication within the company needs work, but has been identified and is forever improving.
Wages/Salary is on the lower side, but still a great company to work for.

If you stay for more than two years your career will be stagnent.
The good things\"AVOID\" The location is good, some of the ground roots people put in their all.
The challengesManagement does not recognise efforts, they do not conduct personal reviews or develop a succession plan. Training is almost non-existent for anybody other than machine operators. This is a shipwreck by the beach slowly eroding and rotting.

Disproportionate compensation to expectation and work life balance spoiled initial feelings of job satisfaction and enjoyment.
The good thingsAt service centre level, the work environment was much friendlier and cooperative almost l I e family. However, dealing with staff based in \"Head Office\" proved frustrating on good days and infuriating on bad ones.
The challengesCommunication is a real stumbling block at all levels of the business resulting in unnecessary additional stress in an already high stress industry.
