Management approach and culture needs improvement.
The good thingsFlexible work hours and proximity to transport and town. Knowing that work contributed to supporting the community
The challengesSome management decisions reflected limited technical understanding, creating frustration for experienced staff and contributing to a poor workplace culture.

Very old fashioned despite contempory policies, I wouldn't recommend working there but yes to volunteering. The agency provides an amazing service to the community
The good thingsGreat colleagues and amazing dedication by volunteers.
The challengesToo many pail frail males in the org, lots of complaining about other units, old fashioned attitudes, some cowboys, very un-diverse workplace, needs to change .. a lot

The Most Rewarding thing i have ever undertaken, i have now spent half my life dedicated to the SES and wouldn't change a thing i foresee my membership continuing into the future!.
The good thingsAs a volunteer the benefits of being with an organisation like the SES far outweigh any negative perceptions that the greater community have, we as an organisation try to educate, help and support our communities to the best of our abilities.
The challengesWe as an organisation deal with helping people on the worst day of their lives, or that are really emotional this can sometimes have a negative impact on the members, however having said that there is always support for those that are affected in the form of our Peer support program.

SES HQS call centre is the best place to work.
The good thingsEveryone is easy going, has great work ethics and is helpful with anything you need to know. We are looked after and treated with respect and equality.
The challengesIt can be very stressful when we have certain events happening and you need to keep a level head but also show empathy towards our callers as they are going through a crisis.
