Stayed for the perks & friendships, left because of the senior leaders.
The good thingsStaff travel perks, ability to move around into different roles across the organisation and build experience in different business units.
The challengesSenior leaders have no clue what is right for people, and morale is constantly low. No care for front line workers, over worked unpaid. Expected to be on call all the time, psychosocial risks are rampant.

First Class lounge is only for the guests
The good thingsThe Qantas CSO where amazing in the First class lounge
The challengesThe management of the First class lounge is anything but. The management are not understanding and only want you to work every weekend without loading. My shifts were morning, afternoon, morning, evening evening not conducive to a healthy sleep pattern. As well the food for staff is substandard. I was managing 40-60 staff and the casual were on more money. Most disappointing. The wages where just as bad.

Reputable Brand, Challenging Culture and Role Stability
The good things-Strong, reputable brand that carries weight on a résumé. -Exposure to large-scale operations and commercially driven decision-making. -Some highly capable and dedicated people across teams. -Work-life balance.
The challenges- Salaries are in line with market averages. - Ongoing cost-savings initiatives and automation create uncertainty around role stability. Redundancies feel like a constant background risk. - Limited investment in professional development or clear career progression pathways. - Workplace tech is outdated. -Low morale - Leadership culture can lean toward performative positivity rather than constructive engagement. Visibility and airtime often favour the most vocal personalities rather than measured contribution. - Staff travel benefits are often less practical than expected. As most leisure travel operates on standby, availability on popular routes can be very limited, especially during peak periods. -The weekly parking allocation system, released at a fixed time during business hours, is highly competitive and can disadvantage employees with limited schedule flexibility.

The challengesThe management from cell leaders to the top have no clue about managing its staff, the morel is rock bottom

A rewarding experience with strong teamwork and valuable learning, balanced by working schedule.
The good thingsI really enjoyed the strong teamwork and supportive working environment. I learned a lot about food safety, which was very valuable for my personal and professional growth. In addition, the compensation package and benefits were very attractive and well appreciated.
The challengesOne area that could be improved is work–life balance. Work is often required on weekend, and even on public holidays, which can be challenging over time. Better scheduling or rotation could help create a more sustainable working environment.

Good when employed terrible when they make you redundant
The good thingsthe company as a whole is one large family working the last 4.5 years in freight but up in corporate office was fantastic great team and upper management was so approachable
The challengesThe redundancy process needs improvements I have seen people fired who got better help and advice then me that was made redundant and they under paid me $4k from the agreed redundancy package

Bogus organisation! Will never work for anything Qantas!
The good thingsI feel the people and the organization are confused and doesn't know what they want. Its a Zombie blob that doesn't know if its walking or sleeping, its left hand doesn't have an idea that the right hand exists.
The challengesI feel the people and the organization are confused and doesn't know what they want. It's a Zombie blob that doesn't know if its walking or sleeping, its left hand doesn't have an idea that the right hand exists.

Would never work for them again.
The good thingsTraining is really thorough, co-workers are super friendly
The challengesWorkplace is similar to North Korea - every minute is accounted for once you start your shift. There is very minimal leniency to do anything apart from be 'on queue' and answer calls. KPI's are very strict too. If you like rigidity and structure then this is the place for you

Good place to work but you will likely be under-utilised
The good thingsColleagues were great, work was interesting, head office is nice, flight benefits are good. Work life balance is also good and there is an employee gym and programs at head office.
The challengesIt is hard to move up because people don't leave. Many people are doing jobs they are way overqualified for. You cannot move internally or up unless you're a pilot.

    The good thingsEmployee Recognition
The challengesSometimes identifying higher level tickets are bit challenging. Proper communication within my desktop team and higher team members helped me to escalate this type of tickets.

I resigned from Qantas to take up a role to explore opportunities based on my studies, but within a few days I realized Aviation is in my heart and blood and my real passion is to re-join Qantas, continue the journey, and give my customers the best travel experience, exceptional customer service, be conscious of their safety and create memorable moments.
The good thingsQantas Airways Ltd is a fantastic iconic airline. The culture, diverse team, and training with human support are excellent. Work-life balance is offered and employees well-being is important and this is very important for a stable lifestyle.
The challengesIt is the challenges that motivate you when you work in an airport environment. You never compromise on safety irrespective of flight delays or disruptions. The main priority is to get passengers to their destination safely. These challenges make you resilient and that is the best part of the job.

Strong company policy and process structure. Continuous training and educative development. The opportunity to seek other roles within the work environment. The opportunity to travel.

The challengesAt times it can become very busy, things can tend to be fast-paced & have to run faster to catch up to delivery times. All must think highly of safety precautions when times like these occurs.

A non stop experience of traveling, shopping, partying and meeting lifelong friends!
The good thingsI had an unforgettable experience working for Qantas, a time I will never forget. I was young, traveled the world, stayed at beautiful hotels, shopped and partied with crew. Would highly recommend for someone young with no commitments and wanting to travel. Met some friends for life!
The challengesTowards the end the culture shifted, short layovers, poor management, crew not motivated and would not go out as much. Seniority is still around, lining up in seniority at the hotel, sometimes even inflight positions going to more senior crew. Crew complaining a lot during flights/on breaks low morale. Terrible pay and conditions however the pros outweighed this and used travel perks to the max! Still don't regret it and it was one of the best experiences
