The good thingsBeautiful office - one of the best views in Sydney, flexible working hours, valuable experience, had a good team until the tender got taken away, pay was good
The challengesManager would use things against you, very clicky.

If you don’t have any care for your mental health, apply here.. this is the place for you.
The good thingsIt’s a really good place to trauma bond of micromanagement and customers who aren’t nice with no support from management. On occasion would get a pizza party however we weren’t let off queue to get pizza so if you had a late lunch, you don’t get any.
The challengesMicromanagement +++ Managers and Team Leaders don’t actually care about their people, they push them to do well so they look better. Little to no opportunity for growth, especially if you aren’t a yes person or a “favourite”.

No leadership. No proper process. It is all about ticking the box. No implementing of leadership skill. Very bad English of Head of department. No content of what is require
The good thingsWork from home. High pay
The challengesNo leadership. Management and HR don't really care about it

Fastpaced and consistently understaffed with micro managed processes.
The good thingsLeave benefits such as wellbeing leave, flexi days on top of annual leave are great. Hybrid working also good.
The challengesQBE is consistently run with lower staff than required. Executives really need to reassess the budget for staffing which will help provide better service to customers, less staff turnover and better wellbeing for all.

The challengesLearning old claim systems, but this is easy to overcome with time and regular exposure.

    Stay Away from this place!
The good thingsNone really! The option to take longer or shorter breaks
The challengesAs much as the work is pressurising with no management support, the people and culture is toxic! No wonder they keep advertising for the same roles regularly, because everyone leaves

Although I was super excited to get a start here unfortunately I had a horrible time working for qbe. The training is minimal and the expectations for trainees are high. I wouldn't waste my time applying. Especially within the heavy haulage space.
The good thingsThe salary is nice, the office is amazing and you may have some amazing team members.
The challengesThe systems are horrible and so slow, and always seem to have faults. As well as this the management skills are lacking and need a big boost.

Positive work environment, modern offices, progressive Leadership team, generous bonuses!
The good thingsLots of positive changes implemented over the last 12 months around hiring practices and career development. Goals and targets are realistic and achievable and Management team are supportive. Hybrid working model enables great work life balance and flexibility to work from home or office.
The challengesLike all big companies structural changes and alignments seem to happen pretty regularly, which unfortunately sometimes result in good people being made redundant. Some Managers very set in their ways and not always open to suggestion.

QBE focus on bringing your best self to work results in a high performance culture of celebrating each others achievements, and supporting each other when needed.
The good thingsMy manager set goals that were achievable and celebrated when we exceeded them. The teamwork was a highlight and the corporate values are lived from Executive to front line staff. Hybrid working with the offices designed for connection. Opportunities to learn and stretch your skills are endless.
The challengesReturning to work after COVID lockdowns, however we were well supported by General Manager, HR and team management.

    Not worth it.
The good thingsNo long hours, some good people in the team.
The challengesDepending on the group or project, the experience could be quite different. If you are unlucky enough, they will have someone with a completely irrelevant background manage your work who understands nothing about the technology or the process. There would be no career progression at all in this case. The high turnover rate is another big red flag.

It's an ok place to work, although not a place where I would build my career.
The good thingsQBE is behind the times when it comes to technology and innovation, but that has created opportunities and programs to help the business compete in an ever changing digital world. The subject matter experts are very helpful and love to share their knowledge. Leaders communicate on a regular basis and the work life balance is like no other company I have ever worked for. It's exceptional and they truly lead in flexible working and work life balance.
The challengesThe pay is lower than market rate. They do have a tendency of stopping projects that are in flight and they have budget constraints.

Fantastic! I'd come back to QBE in a heartbeat
The good thingsThe people are amazing, helpful and very approachable.
The challengesIt's insurance, which by nature is a risk averse business and Change Management was sometimes a challenge because we first had to train the business about the benefits of Change.

    Never coming back.
The good thingsModern office environment, good technology.
The challengesFlexible working policy very poorly adopted, still has an outdated and prejudiced view on working from home for employees who travel a lot to/from work. Advertises internal opportunities but rarely supports movement or already had someone else earmarked for the role. Doesn't keep promises.

Amazing workplace. Good balance of work and social. Friday drinks as a team which helped me get to know my colleagues. Amazing staff, we were allowed to work on our own but have help available if needed. Great cafeteria which I miss a lot.
The good thingsGreat office environment. Friendly staff, always celebrating different occasions.
The challengesDidn’t really find anything difficult.

A great place to start and develop your career in insurance but extremely stressful, low retention rate and questionable management.
The good thingsThere is a great culture within the claims teams and the majority of people don’t hesitate to give a hand when it’s needed.
The challengesThe workload and expectations are horrendous, and the company does not stand up for its staff when they are being treated inappropriately by external parties.

Go there if you want a stable environment and good work life balance. Don’t got there if you really want to make a change, you’ll be disappointed.
The good thingsThey take good care of their employees and there are good opportunities for advancement. Like everywhere it depends on which team and manager you have though.
The challengesNot a great sense of purpose amongst the leadership team, painfully slow decision making, many broken processes and systems that have thwarted many skilled teams and individuals in trying to fix. The organisation chugs along making money regardless - not creating much incentive for anyone to radically change the landscape of the business.
