Corporate, profit driven business with low morale staffThe good thingsColleagues. The imaging equipment is good. Uniform provided. Free diagnostic imaging.
The challengesCorporate feel. Revolving door, staff leave & replaced (hopefully). Management involves endlessly squeezing more & more out of staff. Under staffed, low morale, poor culture. Managers can't help/don't care. Feedback regarding concerns receives the equivalent of a shoulder shrug & to quote, a "they'll get over it" response. The company markets care, compassion & quality, which is contrary to rushed processing. Sonographers now have to carefully write often complex draft Radiologist reports within their scan time, & now scan/report writing times have been reduced! Management feedback has been to proof read our work to ensure reports aren't released with mistakes!! After increasing admin & shortening scan times, staff requested mandated 10-minute rest/tea breaks. This was declined. If staff can't find random opportunities for their break within a fully booked day, a Sonographer should individually raise this with their manager. Rads & Sonos are now, sadly, unionising.
