    Sonographer
    Apr 2026
All Gold Coast QLD8 to 9 years in the role, current employee
Corporate, profit driven business with low morale staff
The good thingsColleagues. The imaging equipment is good. Uniform provided. Free diagnostic imaging.
The challengesCorporate feel. Revolving door, staff leave & replaced (hopefully). Management involves endlessly squeezing more & more out of staff. Under staffed, low morale, poor culture. Managers can't help/don't care. Feedback regarding concerns receives the equivalent of a shoulder shrug & to quote, a "they'll get over it" response. The company markets care, compassion & quality, which is contrary to rushed processing. Sonographers now have to carefully write often complex draft Radiologist reports within their scan time, & now scan/report writing times have been reduced! Management feedback has been to proof read our work to ensure reports aren't released with mistakes!! After increasing admin & shortening scan times, staff requested mandated 10-minute rest/tea breaks. This was declined. If staff can't find random opportunities for their break within a fully booked day, a Sonographer should individually raise this with their manager. Rads & Sonos are now, sadly, unionising.

Disorganised and doesn’t care for its employees
The good thingsMy fellow co workers on site are the only reason i stayed at this job
The challengesUpper management/ HR pushing issues under the rug with no explanation to staff members. Broken promises and the constant whiplash of changing expectations of staff members every 2-3 weeks

The constant hiring and amount of new starters on rotation should tell you all you need to know!
The good thingsCan’t think of any. When most companies are allowing flexibility these days, QScan Group are dead against it - apparently we need to be seen to know work is getting done.
The challengesBroken promises, lack of transparency and untrustworthy management and HR/P&C. The silence is deafening. The power plays are unbelievable.

Extremely toxic environment, HR reports of passive aggressive behaviour are not actioned.
The good thingsSadly, I do not have anything good to say about working at this company
The challengesReports to each other been actioned and employers accountable for inappropriate behaviour towards staff and patient.

Depending on where you are set in the company, this may not be the company for you.
The good thingsThere have been alot of changes in management over thr past couple of years and some of the new management have been really good. Free or discounted scans is also a added benefit.
The challengesAlot of the management is only interested in looking after themselves and dont care enough about the staff that keep the company running. Its hard to enjoy going to work when it feels like you do matter.

    Flexible and fun, recommend
The good thingsSupportive environment, my manager is awesome. They have been so flexible I honestly couldn’t ask for a better employer. Free or subsidized scans really come in handy for my family too.
The challengesSome teams can be tricky to work with.

Lacked professional management skills and did not keep to promises.
The good thingsAmazing back staff (techs) and doctors, felt like a good close-knit group of hardworking people who loved their jobs
The challengesPoor management, micromanager, for the front staff who enjoyed telling everything you're doing wrong in front of patients. Little to no help. Was hired to work for Carindale, was sent to Annerley, no flexibility like I was told during the interview and hiring stages. Went to Carindale a few times, much better morale than Annerley

Unfortunately nota good experience in my career. I am looking forward for a better place to work.
The good thingsThe staff hired fron the old management were nice and supportive.
The challengesAs many companies, new management comes on board thinking that they can make the change, giving a hard time to the staff from the previous management with no opportunities, and new staff come on board giving the idea that they will fix the world. This is a common practice that afffect staff self estime.
