My experience at Quest Apartments was frustrating due to a lack of proper training, unsafe work conditions, and a general manager who was unaware of key operations, despite repeated concerns.
The good thingsThe good things about my experience at Quest Apartments include its great location
The challengesAt Quest Apartments, the general manager lacked knowledge of building operations and the booking system. Despite repeated concerns, unsafe work conditions were ignored, creating a frustrating environment.

I am a trained hotelier. with an experience of more than two years in the field. I adapt easily in the group and I have a sense of work and creativity
The good thingsI like working in a team, I like the collaboration between colleagues. the focus on a job well done. I like the positive results
The challenges I don't like to be openly reprimanded in public. I don't like it when people ignore my remarks

Worth joining if you want to lower skills and abilities
The good thingsNot much really, probably only onsite parking for select employees and some guest interactions.
The challengesE-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g, especially with new owners. Only time and experience in this business will teach you not to work here.

Most unorganised organisation I had to work with.
The good thingsOnly the good thing that I saw at Quest East Perth is the team is good, supports each other.
The challengesEverything was a challenge. No direct communication, head of departments doesn't know what to do. Sales lady is guiding front office team and housekeeping team by giving ORDERS. Most unorganised organisation I have ever worked with.

    Management rewards quantity over quality
The good thingsShift flexibility, central location, decent pay as a casual.
The challengesImproper and rushed training which led to high employee turn over. High volume of work expected in a short amount of time, which let to 6-7 hour long shifts with no break. Didn't feel valued or appreciated by management.

    Front Office
    Jan 2022
3 to 4 years in the role, current employee
WAS good for growth but now is declining.
The good thingsFlexibility and roles (as a receptionist) encompass many more tasks and you have more independence so good opportunity to grow.
The challengesThe head office has ruined its reputation - implementing and forcing changes that make life harder and only benefit themselves. Unwilling to discuss with front-facing staff before making changes or only speaking to people who think exactly like themselves. The franchise is changing from a small business mentality (ability to quickly adapt) to a large coorporation type mentality since the Ascott Group take-over.

    Receptionist
    Oct 2020
    former employee
Severely understaffed, management only cares about profits
The good thingsThe other receptionist who worked the other shifts was very nice
The challengesYou were 99% the only receptionist on during your entire shift. That means that you had to manage both in house guest requests/issues, phones and emails. Management was often away for either your entire shift or at least half of it, which meant that it took longer and was more difficult to resolve issues/questions that required answers from them as they were not present.

    Great brand - Bad operators
The good thingsGreat product - various locations around Australia
The challengesDifferent story if you work for a franchisee or for a group called CEM - you can fall on a great franchisee and have a great experience - just don't think that you will be promoted as there is no way to do that in a franchise business. If you are "lucky" to be part of the CEM group, I would recommend to look at another job.

    Guest Relations Officer
    Dec 2019
3 to 4 years in the role, former employee
Good introduction to the hotel industry.
The good thingsManagement were fantastic. Very supportive and genuinely care for their team. Obviously this differs from franchise to franchise, but it was an absolute pleasure to work for and with the franchisee and managers at Quest Royal Gardens. Being a smaller hotel, I got to wear a lot of different hats and had a lot more variation in my role than a standard hotel reservations member.
The challengesShift work, low pay, not much opportunity for career development. Not a very challenging or exciting role as every day is the same.
