Demanding environment with little support or respect. The good thingsSupportive team members and some strong store-level managers who made the day-to-day more manageable
The challengesOver a long period of time, there was little to no appreciation or recognition for loyalty and consistent effort. Hard work was expected as the baseline, but rarely acknowledged, and there were no real opportunities for growth or development.
Management communication was poor and inconsistent, often leaving staff in the dark. Expectations were regularly unrealistic, with increasing pressure placed on employees without the support, staffing, or structure needed to meet those demands.
The culture leaned heavily on pressure rather than support, to the point where I felt uneasy calling in sick, even after being physically unwell all night. That kind of environment speaks for itself.
Teambuilding was non-existent: no staff nights out, breakfasts, lunches, or regular team meetings to foster connection or morale.
The way things are handled at the end reflects the culture just as much as during there was no acknowledgement, no thank you, and no basic respect shown.
