Fantastic people to work with at store level with a rotten inner core.
The good thingsThe team at a store level is fantastic, I love working with these people and I wish I could keep working with them.
The challengesEver since Viva Energy took over, we all thought it was going to get better and it did for a while. That was until recently. The Area Manager looking after our stores is all for themselves, focused on numbers to "Make themselves look good" for upper management. There's zero support from head office and our hours are being cut big time. We can't improve sales due to illicit tobacco traders and due to where the store is (low income area) no one buys the overpriced GiftBox products you can get for $10 from Temu. No one at store level is happy unless you're one of the pet stores that get all the support from head office, and even then all they do is suck up to the Area Managers. All around the head office and Viva are rotten to the core and they need a rework in how they run their businesses.

Overworked & Under AppreciatedPositives: My team at a store level, I’ll miss them. Negatives: Everything else. Low pay for managers/2IC’s. Lack of support from Area Managers and upper management. Lack of communication. Thankless job. (Most) customers. Unrealistic expectations. No work/life balance. No thank you for my time there from my Area Manager when I resigned. In short, the perfect place to work if enjoy being overworked, underpaid and under appreciated and you would like your mental health to take a hit for the worse. 0/10 Recommend.

It was great when the good managers were here, but with the current managers you will be hard pressed to find a more soul crushing experience.
The good thingsIf there are good managers, it is decent. Loved being there when I started with those managers.
The challengesIf you have bad managers then it is demoralising. Poor quality of life. No support from Head office unless you are management.

If your happy to do nothing for little to no money give it a go.
The good thingsSome of the staff are amazing!!! Some of the customers are awesome.
The challengesThe staff that aren't amazing get just as many hours cause they are so under staffed. Was questioning why we kept multiple casual and ppt and management staff on as they did nothing for the shift, was on the phone constantly, and bought in their laptop to do their tax return. I was told better than having to close shops ; that's when they bothered to turn up. Ppt staff calling in 10 minutes before shift or 30 minutes after they had started can't come in/ need to go home my kids sick. Amazing staff that did work hard and turned up got the privilege of finishing off others' work or getting to stay longer to cover shifts. There training was dismal, alot of tick that box and when I questioned what it all ment was told no idea I was just told to tick it. Did online training and the was told in store that's not what really happens. The Assistant manager in my shop knew nothing not sure if previous management was scared she'd take her job or she had no real interest in learning. Thinking a bit of both.

An experience sold as great fun, but just a glorified dealer of tobacco profiting off expensive addictions.
The good thingsCoworkers, frontline and warehouse staff were generally great people. Regular customers are generally good people.
The challengesExtremely incompetent, politicking and condescending management at all levels. Management is more interested in internal politics than investing in talent and staff. Appallingly unrealistic level of expectations following insufficient training and a general lack of ongoing support.

Fun at the start but not for long
The good thingsSome customers are really lovely, but management ruins every experience
The challengesYou're expected to do so much and if you don't you get reprimanded. No appreciation for staff either. They cut back my shifts and didn't give any explanation and now don't talk to me

This company does some good things but the cons far outweigh the pro's.. not progressive, they don't want to spend money to make money.
The good thingsThe people and atmosphere are awesome, people are awesome.. the customer were always amazing too
The challengesCompany unorganized, not enough budgeted hours.. continuously working 6+ hours on your own. Policies and procedures are forever changing and upper management always changes too

Only a good job if your desperate for money.
The good thingsPersonally the only good thing was the pay.
The challengesAlthough I didn’t have the best experience working there, one thing that was a good challenge was just learning new things that I didn’t know.

The good thingsLoved working there, really great team to work with. Descent pay and shift hours. Procedures are easy to follow, well organised company. Had to leave because of family commitments.
The challengesNo challenges at all. You do your work and that's it. Don't know why people are complaining.

Literally one of the worst companies I’ve worked for
The good thingsStaff instore were always great and willing to go the extra mile, customers always friendly and my particular store had a good atmosphere that we created together
The challengesAbsolutely everything, low pay, no support from upper management, no work/life balance, no staff and it took too long to get more staff, unrealistic targets that you don’t even get incentivised on, unrealistic expectations from management. No staff room so breaks had to be taken outside or in your car, and rarely two people working at the same time so you couldn’t take a break anyway.

A nightmare of a place to work.
The good thingsNothing at all. Low salary, management is ridiculous and communication is poor.
The challengesThe salary is a joke, the management is poor, mentally draining, unprofessional. Care more about the money than staff. They make that much money but cant pay staff any better???? I would not recommend this job to anyone!

The good things-some good coworkers -the customers are amazing -pays really well

Great second job or in between job.
The good thingsGreat store managers and area manager while I was there and it’s a great atmosphere with co workers.
The challengesHigher management don’t assign appropriate hours to the store. To much work to be completed when you’re on a 3-4 hour shift with deliveries, merchandising and general cleaning when there was only 2 people on in store. Growth within the company was difficult and age and gender definitely play a role in their choices.
