great for starting out, job safety and flexible hours, good workers and that's it.
The good thingsamazing work life balance. you leave work at work! if you are starting out in optics they are a great company to start with
The challengesmoving up, moving past supervisor roles is next to impossible. the partnership program is a joke. 12 years in the industry 4.5 with speccies. hold a BA in business to be told I havent served my time?! the program doesnt create the best partners, only have to look at the current skill level of their partners to see that. their program is designed to see who is willing to hang on and hang in. you know who hangs on? thoses who cant go anywhere, cause no other company wants them. I personally moved on to same role for a 50% increase in pay with a clear track to my next career jump.

Depends on your store, my experience was largely positive..
The good thingsYou learn so much that you're easily employable by any optics store, you gain lifelong skills that easily applicable. You gain valuable skills in interacting with a variety of people, and Specsavers really do value their clientele, and aim to make a difference in their health, in that regard, it's quite rewarding.
The challengesThough there seems to be a lot of variety, you will often be undertaking the same tasks for the whole shift which can be repetitive. It's a mentally demanding job, you need to be switched on, there's a lot of unexpected challenges - such as pricing. You can easily burn out working here, constantly dealing with the public and the fast-paced nature, there's a high staff turnover rate, so often you will be short staffed.
