Do not do it to yourself. There are better jobs out there.
The good thingsSome of the staff were wonderful people. Good parking.
The challengesThe stress and pressure you are under hit you from all sides. Understaffed and poorly paid, both customers and managers, branch and corporate, make working a living hell. Sales targets are all they care about. You as an employee mean nothing.

I wish I was still working there
The good thingsI really enjoyed all the lovely customers we had coming in, apart from that I enjoyed my job immensely, I was given a lot of responsibility and had a very good manager who supported me if needed. The staff I worked with were all friendly, caring people.
The challengesSometimes the deadlines were a challenge, but I managed to get through them, working extra time when needed

The good thingsNice team members but high staff turnover
The challengesAlways short staffed. You are made to feel like the worst person if you are sick. You have to put annual leave in 1 year in advance and it’s so hard to get a random off

    Awful. A bad experience
The good thingsVery few things. Some people were nice and friendships with other staff helped get you through the day but that’s about it. A character-building exercise
The challengesAn emotionally stressful high pressure working environment with a huge workload. This job is all about getting sales. Everything is micromanaged including giving multiple daily updates on your sales and KPI’s. The targets are never ending and unrealistic, and do not factor in things like staff shortages. There is strict measuring of start times and lunch breaks and really no job flexibility. Some managers have no idea how to treat people and have no empathy for you if you are unwell. Staff are undervalued and viewed as an easily replaceable number. The culture is a competitive sales culture and the working environment is often toxic and rigid. Customers will take out their frustrations on you and at the same time you are under pressure to achieve your KPI’s.

People working with you makes it bearable to work else one would prefer to work anywhere else
The good thingsThe teams working in the branch are good people but that's about it
The challengesNo internal progression. Management prefer to hire people from outside with lower skills and much better pay than progress internal staff. No resolution of internal complaints Most of the processes are outdated with a hard sales culture despite management telling that its customer oriented which becomes misleading. Micromanagement is done at very core as managers questions you why sales are not being performed despite knowing that there are no customer walk ins.

Management treat staff as a disposable commodity, easily replaced.
The good thingsThere are very few good things about St.George/Westpac that readily come to mind, the best part would be working with some of the staff who go out of their way to be as friendly as possible
The challengesManagement keep setting unattainable performance goals and unrealistic expectations re: work being performed within allotted time frames when they keep stripping staff out and relocating jobs offshore and expect staff to take up the slack and work longer hours than normal to make up the difference.
