Horrific, terrible, disgusting, do not work here.
The good thingsNo one cares if you are late for work or if you go on extra long breaks to walk around the shopping center. Also if you do a lot of good work and educate yourself in your spare time so you can do your job better, the higher ups in management will tell you you don't deserve higher pay. Then when you quit they will re-advertise your position with a significantly higher salary and make no attempt to keep you on board.
The challengesManagement are horrible, horrendous people who treat people like numbers. Doesn't make a lot of sense when you consider they are supposed to be focused on helping people, but don't help their staff. All of the Disability/Aged care support workers employed here are casual, even if they have been with the company 5+ years, its honestly disgusting.

Great staff. Variable work, great clients, and very good pay for the work
The good thingsI have really loved joining the industry and getting to know the cassowary Coast region, not to mention all of the amazing clientele in the area. The role has a lot of variety which makes each day and week relatively fresh. For me this is very important. Being a casual employee has its perks of adjusting availability to as much and as little as you want. (with enough notice of course)! I found the Office staff to be really supportive and educational. Never have I felt like I’m in trouble or I’ve done something terribly wrong so I really appreciate the environment they have l cultivated.
The challengesNothing really that can be improved other than the program we use, however with that said they are actively working on it and open to suggestions Broadly. I’m very happy with my role here at SJCC.

    Amazing place to work
The good thingsManagement is exceptional. Great work hours and even better pay. Really well looked after, respected and supportive. Quarterly lunches, Christmas Parties, Festivals etc. OH, and a day leave for your Birthday.
The challengesNo challenges as such with ST John's. More Aged Care act and the changes - but St John's are so supportive

never ever return and stand proud to every day you survive
The good thingsNone - Management will drive you to the bone, and even pay to hide the reviews
The challengesIts common knowledge throughout the sector and in Cairns why the locals avoid this place....don't demoralise yourself and work for these people who have no ethics, or values and everything is driven by one individual and the cash tin

St John's has been amazing to work for for the past year, I've grown confidence in my ability, gained new skills and have been encouraged every step of the way.
The good thingsI enjoy engaging with my clients on a day to day basis and getting to know them. A refreshingly positive work environment since starting my. I quite often receive emails and calls about positive feedback from management. Very good pay, excellent work/life balance and flexibility.
The challengesLearning a whole new world of procedures to follow and stepping out of my comfort zone. Taking a risk on a whole new role.

I've been working as a care staff for just over two years now and loving it. The hours are very flexible and the pay is good. I really enjoy working with the elderly in the community.. I have a few kids and St John's have a great work life balance, wish I had stated this type of work earlier, love it!
The good thingsFlexible, work like balance
The challengesThe start for me was challenging, getting use to how things work after 2 weeks it was great

More of a cleaning company that pays well than a NDIS company
The good thingsRostering staff are friendly and are understadning to your situations. Good pay
The challengesIf you are looking to utilise your Cert III, not the best as it is heavy on cleaning, sometimes you'll do 4 cleans a day and can get tiring. Staff are very possessive over clients as most staff are long-time staff. Unlikely to get long shifts.

You are just another number to this company.
The good thingsPay is good including travel pay. Clients are generally quite good to staff.
The challengesManagement is a nightmare to deal with. Care staff are treated as expendable and not respected for their constant labour. Care staff go above and beyond for very little to no recognition or positive reinforcement. Management will however point out each and every small mistake Care staff make. You will be hasselled and threatened about log in times. And if you don't agree to exactly what they want in terms of your roster, you will be let go.

Staff turnover is the highest I have ever seen. Not just for Support Workers, but for Administration Staff as well. It is a very toxic environment.
The good thingsThe office is a lovely & new place to work in.
The challengesManagement do not care. You are just a number in a position & nothing else.

    treacherous
The good thingsCareer progression, opportunity to work and educate in the field.
The challengesEverything is your responsibility and your fault, very little guidance or positive reinforcement from management. You are just a name and a tab on their end, who cares who you are as a person. Travel times between clients are tight, forcing you to feel rushed and potentially put yourself at risk, additionally workers are grilled on being few minutes late logging on to the next client. Do your self a favour and don't apply to this organisation.

Love my role at St Johns. Enjoy working with the office team as well as interacting and building relationships with the care staff and client's.
The good thingsPreviously worked in childcare for 8 years where I experienced very poor management. After moving to St Johns, I experienced amazing management who are very supportive and understanding. So easy to talk to.
The challengesI experienced / experience very few challenges. My main role is rosters, which I got 1 on 1 training for for 2 weeks. If I am ever stuck, the Roster's team in Cairns are very approachable to and always offering a helping hand.

The good thingsGreat pay Flexible hours and availability Minimal weekend work Supportive work environment (colleagues and bosses) Staff events Inc Xmas party Bosses eager to improve/fox issues and accept feedback
The challengesThere aren't any challenges present that are a result of the Brisbane office team and any challenges presented to you by clients are often resolved with a phone call or email to the office.

    Regrets.
The good thingsThe pay is good. To make up for the lack of hours.
The challengesManagement is a drain to talk to, rostering staff in the office are insanely rude and think you’re less than them. No notice on changes to your day. Ads say minimum 20 hours but you can get anywhere from 0. Draining place to work

St. John's is an amazing organisation providing great experiences for clients and staff.
The good thingsI work at the Young Lifestyle Village as a disability Support worker. The residents are amazing and each day a wonderful experience. St. John's management is so supportive and always willing to spend time with me and the residents. Always lots of activities and things to do for everyone. They have an amazing community centre and also the heated therapy pool where we assist the residents in the pool
The challengesIt is sometimes a challenge when a resident is not having a good day and trying to lift their spirit and join the activities.

St. John's positive working environment and culture together with management that recognises each persons individual contribution and the endless opportunities offered to me to support people of all abilities to live the life that they choose.
The good thingsThe endless opportunities to grow and progress and each individual being recognised supported to learn and excel in any role. I never believed that it was possible to find an organisation like St. John's that is so positive and rewarding. The cross training that management provides is amazing. I just love coming to work every day to make a difference to clients and colleagues.
The challengesPeople who have left the organisation and have an axe to grind and simply have nothing better to do with their time than try to cause harm to others by spreading rumours, and toxic misinformation about a great community organisation and there staff that puts their clients and employees at the centre of everything they do.
