    Retail Sales Assistant

Exceptional Organisation! The Retail Sales Assistant role with Tennis Australia (TA), not only provided me with a pathway into retail, but also really allowed me to showcase my abilities and skills as a team worker, communicatior, leader and customer service provider. Throughout my role with TA, I was constantly supported and encourgaed to showcase my talents and abilities. Staff and other team members were encouraging of this as well, and I felt empowered to really make a lasting impact/difference on customers expeirences, as well as staff morale. This was an excellent and exciting job opportunity that I would stongly encourage anyone to apply for if they want to demonstrate their ability to lead teams and provide exceptional customer service. So much so, that I a being put forward for a team leader role for Australian Open (AO) in 2026! This shows their commitment to fostering growth within their employees. A great organisation to work for that really values diversity and inclusion in the work place. My expeirence with AO couldnt have been better, and I couldnt think of a better employer to work for. Highly recommend this role! Please get involved if you can!

    Would not recommend production
The good thingsNice fitted chef jacket that was comfy and breathable
The challengesManagement. There is no direction given. I've been tossed around to many people mainly doing nothing. Tagging out some other kitchen staff who are horrendously messy, thinking everyone has been to culinary school and knows the basics like walking with a knife without holding the blade outward. Disorganized days with no real structure

Great learning and exciting position with potential for growth in the industry.
The good thingsGreat environment and team at Tennis West and also there's a good group of colleagues in the private sector.
The challengesWorking in WA meant there was a bit of disconnect between Head Office and our office at Tennis West however the support at Tennis West was excellent.

A world class event, electrifying environment and positive progressive people.
The good thingsTA is very progressive. Every year there is new developments, opportunity and improvements. It is on a global scale and the people of Tennis Australia are world quality. The atmosphere during and lead up to the Aus Open is surreal and exhilarating. I actually felt a huge come down and felt a mildly depressed when it was over, its a very positive feeling. I enjoyed the interaction with my work colleagues, the public and the benefit of an open ground pass everyday via our accreditation.
The challengesGetting in so much in such little time. But all worth it. Every year there are new challenger to top and better the years before.

I would not recommend working for Tennis Australia. Yes, working for them during the Australian Open seems attractive, but in reality, the other 11 months of the year are full of no career progression, recognition, and a salary so low that many people have to work another job on top of their full time role.
The good thingsTennis Australia provides a relaxed environment to work in, and employs people that you can develop friendships with outside of the office.
The challengesThe salary is extremely low for the amount of work that you do, and considering how much money Tennis Australia turns over, and how they continuously increase the prize money for the players, they NEED to increase employees annual salary considering we are the ones that assist the company in making so much money. There is also no career development, opportunity for promotion or employee recognition whatsoever.

Glad to work for a well known organisation but there is good opportunity for improvement.
The good things- Opportunity to work for a well known brand and with passionate people - Executive leaders are working hard to increase the capabilities and knowledge of staff across the board - The organisation has a family feel to it - The head office is relatively new and has a cafe with lots of good food options on the ground floor.
The challenges- Getting a job at Tennis Australia can be more about who you know than what you know, so there are quite a few people in important positions that don't have the necessary skills and expertise to complete their role effectively. - The salary is very low, particularly in corporate and sales positions - It can be a political environment - Budgets can be tight

I worked whole-heartedly for an year to find out that no one actually cares during end of the year performance reviews. Took a step back and moved out.
The good thingscasual/stress free, all work is done closer to the tournament/s and the rest of the year is pretty relaxed :) Go there if you need to have some relaxed 9-5 work. Brand name on your resume would be identified. Free tickets to almost 5 matches(initial ones before quarter finals) Lots of freebeez that are left over from tournaments every year. Location is great, closer to city but away from the crowds and pollution. I would love to go back there when I am closer to retirement from work just to have a relaxed 9-5 office. Now you know what I mean.. lolol.
The challengesDo not go there if you are career focused, no progression ever. HR literally runs the company. Team work does not exist or they dont know what that is! People made redundant almost every year which means, no resource planning. Not for profit, so salaries are below market averages (So, you are assured to find jobs outside that pays 20K plus in salaries).
