Lack of support and unclear direction
The good thingsSome great colleagues at the team level who try their best in a challenging environment.
The challengesLeadership lacks clear direction and strategic capability, which has had a noticeable impact on overall business performance and morale. There is little to no investment in employees, with limited benefits and no meaningful support structures in place. Career progression opportunities are minimal, making it difficult to see a long-term future within the company. The product offering feels stagnant, with a lack of innovation and creativity, particularly in recent times. Decisions from high level leadership often seem reactive rather than well thought-out, contributing to ongoing instability. Employee wellbeing does not appear to be a priority, and policies that support staff through important life stages are lacking. Shockingly there is no paid parental leave of any kind and no interest in introducing this.

Love working at The Fresh Collective
The good thingsLove working for the company. I have been at the gallery as a venue manager for a while. Great culture. Great team cohesiveness.
The challengesLeadership is looking for better results all around. But we are part of the decision making process and that feels good.

    Embarrassing senior leadership.
The good thingsYoung staff who were receptive to learning but that is where it ends.
The challengesOverhaul the senior management team, not everyone who holds a position there deserves to be there. The level of incompetence there is insane, you get told to do one thing and you do exactly what they ask and they will still somehow find a way to "discipline" you and show you the door. Utterly hopeless, thank God I had another job lined up whilst I was unfortunately employed by them.

Burnout is inevitable before they cast you aside. Do yourself a favour and find a better events company.
The good thingsYou’ll discover your limits.
The challenges Highly disorganised organisation, with an outdated hierarchy that offers no real support for managers. The benefits are minimal—astonishingly, in 2025, they still don’t provide paid parental leave. There are no incentives or leadership retention bonuses, and career growth is nonexistent.

The good thingsgoing home at the end of every shift was a joyful experience. some casual staff are nice but that's about the only positive thing i can say
The challenges18 - 20 hour split shift days with only 4 hours until next split shift began. Toxic culture created and encouraged by upper event management. Exclusive not inclusive environment. aggressive chef's, non existent HR department.

Worst catering company I have ever worked for!!!
The good thingsgoing home at the end of every shift
The challengesToxic work culture driven by unrealistic expectations. Below poor upper and middle management. Constant turn over of full time and casual staff. No support from management and serious lack of organization skills form any of the event supervisors, who always blame someone else for their incompetence. I was told that this company use to be great to work for. unfortunately it has fallen to the bottom of catering companies in Australia.

I would never work for this company again.
The good thingsThe people I worked with were lovely aside from the chef's who were blatantly rude and when mentioning it to management was brush to the side.
The challengesWorking 10 days straight to get 2 days off in a row. Dealing with a company so out of touch with its employee's they didn't understand their needs and wants.
