It has been a great journey working at the pancake parlour for 2+ years.
The good thingsIt has been a rewarding and enjoyable experience working here at the pancake parlour southland. the team environment is very supportive and the management is very helpful in any circumstance. The company values professionalism and provides a positive workplace culture that encourages growth and learning.
The challengesThe only challenge is that one should be ready to handle any type of customer as we experience various challenging situations with them.

STAY AWAY! WORST PLACE TO WORK AT
The good thingsthe only good thing about working here was my co-workers.
The challengesManagement is horrible. They don't care about their staff at all. Can't cancel shifts even as a casual need to ask for a leave 4 weeks in advance. a lot of favouritism. will cut shifts short to 2 hours when rostered for 5 hours. horrible horrible place.

Restructure and the way they handled Covid ruined my great attitude towards the company
The good thingsThe people, salary used to be good before they restructured. Fast paced and challenging, always different
The challengesVery stressful, on call all the time, zero work life balance, have to apply for annual leave 4 weeks in advance if you want a weekend off. Are prohibited from having any sort of holidays off. Have to be available nights, all public holidays and weekends

The good thingsTraining opportunities are there if you’re looking for them. There are some strong mentors there but you have to get lucky to get one in your restaurant.

Management is hard, being a FOH is fun, being a cook/backer is hard hard work
The good thingsStructure of training, very extensive. Free food Fun atmosphere
The challengesWorking in management is SOUL DESTROYING. Help hardly available. Can see cooks struggle with promised help that never happens, everybody is overloaded with tasks that are just impossible to be done impeccably if you don't have another person there to help. Place needs help with OHS and cleaning.

    Disappointing
The good thingsGood salary Easy to get to with public transport Ipads to take orders with (although they do stuff up alot)
The challengesNo support or respect from managers Little hours given (usually 2-3 hours a shift) Understaffed at busy times High rate of staff turn over Not fulfilling or rewarding Have to pay for all food, staff discount applies however, still expensive Financially unreliable

Don't work here find somewhere else.
The good thingsGood team, great people to work with
The challengesManagement didn't know what they were doing in legal terms, asking casuals to supply sick notes when sick 'or will hold pay until supplied'. Treat casuals like they are part time workers without the perks. You know what time you start your shift but don't know when you finish, could finish in 3 hours or in 8 hours. There are better jobs out there to be wasting your time with your time trying to do this job with management thinking they own the world.

Trying to provide restaurant level service, at a fast-food pace.
The good thingsCo-workers are great, rates are pretty good, very lenient on uniform.
The challengesBeing a casual is hard; shifts often get cut, or you could be asked to come to work on the same day which makes it difficult to plan around.
