This is not a long-term career path.
The good thingsWork life balance was good initially.
The challengesThe organisation has no interest in retaining experience staff and poor staff management. The organisations communication method with team members is poor or not existant. There is very poor morale amongst all teams across all three sites.

Enjoyed working at The Star, felt part of a team and had good benefits particularly staff buffet.
The good thingsThe benefits were really good, the 24hour staff buffet, free light rail on the L1, staff discounts, and washed uniform.
The challengesIt can be a challenge dealing with some rude customers who come on a daily basis.

Exciting and evolving hospitality and entertainment industry that provides career opportunities for those seeking a safe and supportive working environment which celebrates diversity and inclusion,
The good thingsTeam morale and continued support for process improvement. Dynamic and evolving business that supports and embraces change. Exciting business opportunities for employees seeking to progress in hospitality.
The challengesExecutive leadership unable to establish a united and clear business direction following the casino inquiries.

    Disappointing and stressful.
The good thingsCo-workers, I have worked within a few different teams, and they were the light of my day.
The challengesThey promote based on who they like, not who is competent. Usually, friends are promoted, and mostly, the higher-ups surround themselves with yes people. Management does not appreciate new ideas or being questioned. You will not be recognised for your hard work. The unfairness in the treatment of staff is absurd. Very toxic workplace.

Don’t work in Corporate at this failing company
    The good thingsSome retail discounts
The challengesLack of a good work culture . Poor pay and no pay rises for last 3 years. Management favours friends for promotions. Most corporate management are former employees of competitor across the harbour - low capability and high ego / arrogance

The management don't know what they are doing and are just after Staff they can tell to push gear around and not allow for any kind of troubleshooting or further development
The good thingsThe other staff members
The challengesLack of communication from management. Irregular and inconsistent working hours. Toxic work place. One manager acts like he knows stuff but then doesn't and provides you with the wrong information then says it's your fault. The other manager will gossip to other staff behind your back and is extremely unprofessional. The head of the department will constantly ignore you and say doesnt allow you to have any opinions or take any feedback into account on how things could be improved. All together this is one of the worst and most toxic work places due to extremely poor management and lack of guidance.

Run away as fast as you can!
The good thingsMost co-workers are decent people whom work hard, despite knowing that no bonuses or pay increases available to them.
The challengesYou will work harder, with little appreciation. You won’t receive any pay increases, and no bonuses. You will take on more work due to cost out program and roles being made redundant. High turnover. Decision making processes is beyond comprehension. Don’t be desperate to take a job here.

would not recommend to anyone. working here at the start was almost like a dream come true that turned into a harsh nightmare. none of the employees enjoy working there due to the unprofessionalism and team spirit just doesn’t exist.
The good thingsmost of the patrons were lovely, often treated the attendants with kindness and respect. we as staffs, also receive clean uniforms and 1 hot meal provided per shift
The challengesthe supervisors are rude and unprofessional. with rumours (evidenced) of ‘captains’ creating group chats to degrade team members; excluding one to another based on preferences; making fun of employees behind their backs openly etc. most of the supervisors DO NOT follow protocols

The thought of working for Australia's leading gaming organisation was so exciting but very quickly it was evident that the business was on a down hill trajectory.
The good thingsThe organisation has a positive vision for the future which they are working towards and promotes diversity in the workplace. They offer great staff benefits and discounts.
The challengesEver changing targets, expectations and KPI's (never any consistency), management who seemed clueless a lot of the time and frequent personnel change in the organisation.

This is a good company to start a career, but I would not seek long-term development opportunities here.
The good thingsIt’s a big family here; everyone gets along well, and there’s a lot of support at work.
The challengesCurrently, the Star facing regulatory pressures from governmental agencies, alongside potential financial risks. The management's lack of effective leadership and the organization's structural inefficiencies have contributed to low employee satisfaction. Moreover, there are limited opportunities for career development and progression. It is also perceived that management tends to favor employees based on personal preferences rather than objective qualifications and performance.

Despite the challenges of inflexible management, the Star Casino Group fostered a strong sense of family among its team members.
The good thingsFamily atmosphere of the staff, benefits of working for one of the largest employers in Southeast Queensland
The challengesEverything is very regimented due to it being a gaming company under the OLGR, this has created a culture where management are unable to accept change or ideas.

Good for a short time and to get experience, but i wouldn't look for a career here.
The good thingsIt is a good place to learn, and use as a stepping stone to a career with another company. You get discounts at the restaurant and Hotel.
The challengesZero career development, they want Min 2-3 years experience for promotions, and not interested in training and hiring from within. Wage is on the low end, and not competitive with other companies.

Poor management and leadership leads to high staff turnover.
The good thingsThey have free buffet lunch and a cold breakfast bar for all employees. The food is mediocre, but they do a decent job switching it up.
The challengesTerrible worklife balance, very poor management, not an enjoyable office environment. High staff turnover is a clear indication of the management.

A highly complex and toxic gaming environment!
The good thingsWorked with some very good people who rose above a very challenging environment to produce great work. Had the opportunity to work on some great projects and the associated relevant peer exposure that came with the experiences.
The challengesA complex large organisation and associated gaming structures made for a very toxic management environment that seemed to 'pit' people against each other - no-one had your back. The organisation is purely about the revenue at all costs. And whilst it runs the pre-requisite 'people' programs, they come a very distant second to the revenue tree.

The challengesOverly complicated organisational structure that created finger-pointing and a culture that encouraged lack of accountability. Lack of empowerment. No strategy. No autonomy.
