    Really enjoyed working at Toys\"R\"Us
The good thingsLovely staff, fun work environment, great management
The challengesEven though we did the same job with the same quality I felt that it was easier for only a select few (who were maybe closer to the higher-ups socially) to advance in their career

Horrible and would never work there again.
The good thingsThe customers were pretty good.
The challengesEverything while working here was a challenge. When I first started I was never given something as simple as a store tour to familiarise myself with the store, just lead to the registers and shown what to do. That is all I was ever allowed to do, even after asking and being promised to be trained in doing floor work. Was given a matt at the registers and was told I'm not allowed to leave. The management there was also terrible with a high turnover rate. In two years we had about 4-6 different store managers come in, all who were difficult to work with. By the time I left I was lucky to be getting one shift every two months.

Its a big supportive family with varying levels of experience
The good thingsThe people you work in-store become a family to you, being supportive and friendly and you make life-long friends
The challengesHead office/area managers come up with new policies that put the associates (and managers) in difficult situations (which 9/10 times results in getting yelled at by customers) which ultimately get redacted in a couple weeks anyway.

WORKING HERE IS A TERRIBLE IDEA
The good thingsI worked at Toys R Us as a Christmas Casual so I was only there a short period. That and the reasonable pay I got as a high school student is the only positive thing I can think of.
The challengesI was in high school at the time and was the youngest person working there, I was picked on consistently by the permanent staff for my age, lack of experience and the fact that I was casual. Management were never helpful. Training consisted of some OHS information, I was never shown how to do the job (stock shelves, customer service, registers). This experience made me really nervous about entering the workforce and I'm very relieved that this hasn't been my experience since leaving Toys R Us.

I learnt a lot but overall the culture, unrealistic expectations, lack of clear vision and direction and staff churn were all factors in leaving.
The good thingsSome great people in the organization. Some managers good.
The challengesHigh staff churn, low pay, senior managers want more and more. Senior management chaotic. Everybody knows everything and gossips. HR are admin based not culture based. Offices are old and shabby. Too many meetings but no clear direction.

It was a good first job, with friendly staff and flexible hours and good pay
The good thingsThe training and the team support was very good
The challengesSometimes you are just spoken too as if you know everything and are expected to complete somthing that you need to have completed multiple times to have learnt it properly

Great if you have a good manager, if not it’s reallt hard
The good thingsThe staff are amazing and we have always had great associates to work with in the store. Opportunities to complete management training exist and if you are good you can have a long career here.
The challengesManagement - mostly the store managers are pretty good but if you get a dud it’s really difficult. The volumes of stock at Xmas can be ridiculous, and customers can get really cranky but that’s just retail. Area managers/ SSC are horrendously our of touch and don’t understand what it’s like to be in store. But if you get lucky and get a good manager it can be really good.

    Poor choice of career path.
The good thingsCo-workers share a similar mentality, and work together effectively in most situations.
The challengesHorrid christmas roster, with \"reasonabe\" over time, i had no time to see family before or after work. Even weekends were poorly maintained. Company seemed more interested in keeping attention of young staff with false fed information to keep them driven, than actually giving reasons to be driven.

The good thingsWorking with good employees that are always willing to help. The management team are very good to work with and most importantly very approachable. Being able to interact with customers and kids also make the job enjoyable
The challengesChristmas time gets very hectic and sometimes can be bit of a challenge . However every shift is worth while as you are helping customers prepare for there Christmas

The money is good but the working environment isn't worth it.
The good thingsGreat way to learn about products and interact with a wide array of age groups within the community.
The challengesLearning to navigate the role efficiently without substantial training and trying to enjoy the job whilst working under poor management who had no respect for their staff.

Fun and energetic but tiring and energy consuming.
The good thingsBeing surrounded with young and energetic workers get you motivated, which makes work bearable.
The challengesPoor management, especially during the Christmas season. Managers were stress and venting out their stress on their own employees. Don't seem to roster on much workers throughout the day which causes employees to overwork themselves.

Good for part time job whilst at school, but there won’t be enough hours to work part time once beyond school age.
The good thingsLaid back environment, good for part time job while at school.
The challengesDon’t get many shifts once beyond school age, rosters were often released without much notice time.

Your life will be miserable if you work here.
The good thingsVery little was good about this company.
The challengesThe Management Team (if you can call it that) in head office is a total joke. The whole company is so poorly run. The office in Regents Park is so old and is not a nice place to work. The Management Team don't work well together, leadership is non-existent really. I do not recommend that anyone work in the head office. It will make your life miserable.
