HORRENDOUSLY OPPRESSIVE AND TOXIC MANAGEMENT ENVIRONMENT
The good thingsSome work colleagues, but not all!
The challengesManagement. If you don't swallow and keep your mouth shut, you'll be targeted by actions designed to control and oppress.

Human ResourcesThank you for speaking up. The words 'oppressive' and 'targeted' are serious and we need to understand what happened. No one should feel controlled or silenced at work. Would you be willing to speak confidentially with our Regional HR Director? Please email [email protected] We need to hear the full story.

It is unrewarding, and I could not recommend this company to employees or other potential companies. Buyer Beware!!!
The good thingsI made some good friends. Free coffee and fruit. I learnt how a good company can turn bad
The challengesThere are challenges with the Queensland government's political situation regarding the water treatment plants, and senior managers are trying to reinvent the wheel. Help is non-existent from senior managers. The whitewashing of true gender diversity

Although I did have some good experiences at Veolia in the early days, things have started to go downhill.
The good thingsThe water business unit has some great people working there, but senior leadership is questionable. The waste side of the business is much more dynamic and has an excellent, caring, solid leadership team.
The challengesThe water business line does not own many assets and is primarily a contracting company working for other larger entities. Senior management does not seem to realise this and continually pushes you to find more ways of getting money from their clients even if they do not need to spend the money. Trying to offer a good service and help reduce client costs is heavily frowned upon. There is no tolerance for challenging conversations in the water line of business, and those who ask questions seem to be moved on or disappear into the ether. A company is generally a group working for the good of the company. There is a constant need to cut costs in waste; fortunately, in this area, Veolia is being innovative and expanding rather than laying people off or paying ridiculous wages.

Human ResourcesThis is detailed, thoughtful feedback from someone in management. Your observation that we're 'primarily a contracting company' but senior management doesn't act like it is insightful. 'Pushing to find more ways of getting money from clients even if they don't need to spend it' - that's not sustainable business. And 'no tolerance for challenging conversations' with people who ask questions 'disappearing into the ether' is concerning. We're reviewing division leadership and business model. Thank you for speaking up.

Has been a good company to work for, good development pathway for employees who are keen on development. It is great to know that the work we are doing is having an impact locally and globally and we are part of the solution.
The good thingsWorklife Balance, Employee Benefits, Development pathways, Safety culture, Veolia Values
The challengesSite-level requirements are not taken into consideration mostly while implementing new systems which has led to frustration and staff having to figure out work around themself due to limited support.
