Although I did have some good experiences at Veolia in the early days, things have started to go downhill. The good thingsThe water business unit has some great people working there, but senior leadership is questionable.
The waste side of the business is much more dynamic and has an excellent, caring, solid leadership team.
The challengesThe water business line does not own many assets and is primarily a contracting company working for other larger entities. Senior management does not seem to realise this and continually pushes you to find more ways of getting money from their clients even if they do not need to spend the money.
Trying to offer a good service and help reduce client costs is heavily frowned upon.
There is no tolerance for challenging conversations in the water line of business, and those who ask questions seem to be moved on or disappear into the ether. A company is generally a group working for the good of the company.
There is a constant need to cut costs in waste; fortunately, in this area, Veolia is being innovative and expanding rather than laying people off or paying ridiculous wages.
