Overall, very grateful to work at Water Corp, couldn't recommend it enough.
The good thingsA good, flexible workplace that's very understanding of your personal needs/commitments. Provides you with lots of required training, utilities, and allowances. Rarely under lots of pressure/stress on the daily. Days are usually at a good pace. Good, friendly managers leading us.
The challengesBetter management, decisions are often made late. Seeing results in issues drag longer than it should. Low energy workplace, not much enthusiasm around. Unorganised

One of the worst places I've worked.
The good thingsGoing home at the end of the day
The challengesManagement are very cliquey and purple circle. Didn't get an opportunity to thrive in the role. They will put anybody in leadership positions without even training them on how to manage people. HR are useless and unhelpful and not even friendly. You walked past people in the hallway nobody even smiles or says hello. Don't do it honestly. Toxic environment.

Own environment. Disfunctional. Political correctness over rules skills. Subjective.
The good thingsLeave benefits. Good travel allowances. Some people are actually good, but a dying and now rare breed.
The challengesToxic. Run by cyborgs. Woke. High waste of public money.

    Like playing Russian Roulette.
The good thingsreasonable pay, the colleagues, opportunities to act in other positions/locations, training & licences are paid for.
The challengesPoor leadership and extremely ineffective HR department. They claim & promote about caring for staff & their wellbeing and mental health, but the reality is the opposite. Raising any concerns puts a target on your back and subjects you to scrutiny. When you speak up about any serious issues like unfair treatment, it creates a toxic environment where it leads to retaliation and you are seen as the problem. Decision making is slack and sparse & constant budget-cut yo-yoing that creates instability.

Warning for Anyone Considering Work at Water Corporation Kalgoorlie I worked at Water Corp Kalgoorlie and strongly advise anyone thinking of joining to be aware of how management operates. Supervisors and managers often have little understanding of what’s happening in the field, lack proper organisation skills, and show little regard for correct safety procedures. In fact, they will sometimes break their own safety standards just to push jobs through faster, putting workers at unnecessary risk. When issues are raised, they are brushed aside or laughed off with “that’s just the way we do things.” Instead of confronting problems, management avoids them and hopes they will somehow fix themselves — which never happens. Unless you’re in their small inner circle, you’re likely to be treated poorly, ignored, and eventually pushed out. The result is a high turnover and a workplace where morale and safety take a back seat.
The good thingsFree training and licences
    The challengesUnskilled management and supervisors

    Not a modern organisation
The good thingsConstant flow of work so you are never bored...
The challengesFeels like you have stepped back in time working here. Typical government organisation characterised by a lack of visionary leadership, sluggish decision-making due to inadequate delegation of authority, and a low adoption of modern workplace practices. Change is met with resistance from many.

So far, I've enjoyed my experience at Water Corporation. There is a vast number of opportunities for employees to explore in their career and the Corporation is very willing to support each individual in their journey.
The good thingsI enjoy the work-life balance. Everyone is really supportive to employees putting their family and life first. Working flexibly is a really big positive to working at the Water Corporation. The whole workplace is like a friendly community.
The challengesThe Corporation is very process-driven where there is a process that has to be followed for everything - this can sometimes result in a lot of admin work which lengthens the duration of tasks. This is mostly for assurance purposes and, in the scheme of things, is likely for the best.

A truthful review of a Great Place to Work! Positive As a working mum in a leadership role, my team and the broader business have been incredibly supportive and offer many flexible options. Great work-life benefits with plenty of flexibility to work from home, 9-day fortnight etc. Good team culture that is motivated to work and passionate about their role. As Water Corporation is a large organisation there are opportunities to try out different career pathways too. Over the 5 years I have been here I have seen so many enhancements and clear accountability. I do see Water Corporation as long-term employment and a company I will be at for many years to come. Challenges Due to being a statewide operational business, there is some time management of change management, but the internal teams are very supportive especially of projects or programs.

Toxic workplace. I feel induction was a bunch of lies because if they really cared about safety they would do something about inappropriate behaviour.
    The good thingsMoney, getting paid.
The challengesToxic coworkers. Nasty people. HR seems to want to continue to let them get away with it. Not what they advertise at induction. Reviews saying favouritism are true. Watch your back. Don't trust your coworkers if you join.

Water Corporation offers flexible working arrangements but suffers from a toxic culture, outdated technology, and ineffective leadership, which hinder productivity and employee satisfaction.
The good thingsWater Corporation provides flexible working arrangements that enhance work-life balance, benefiting employees. There were several genuinely good people.
The challengesWhile Water Corporation offers flexible working arrangements, there are significant areas for improvement, particularly regarding workplace culture. The environment can feel unwelcoming, as there is often a lack of recognition for employees at lower pay grades. This contributes to a perception of a "boys' club" mentality, where politics can hinder productivity, and many managers seem unprepared to lead effectively. Despite claims of inclusivity, the reality falls short, and a genuine culture shift is needed to foster a more collaborative and supportive atmosphere. Additionally, the technology provided, such as laptops and software, is outdated, making it difficult to perform tasks efficiently. The induction process can be overwhelming, with little time for adjustment, leaving new employees unprepared. While there are some positive aspects, addressing these cultural and operational challenges is crucial for improving employee satisfaction and effectiveness.
