Not what's advertised on the tin - don't recommend
The good thingsGood work flexibility - can set your own hours
The challengesAn unsupportive, politically driven culture where self-preservation and alignment with internal networks are prioritised. Outdated systems/processes with resistance to change mean there are limited opportunities for any meaningful improvement. Constantly changing direction on projects increases inefficiencies and affects the ability to do effective work.

Very TOXIC Environment that needs to be avoided.
The good thingsThere are some great employees at Zurich however they are under so much pressure you dont ever get to know their true selves. Some flexibility to WFH (dependent on your Team Manager). Good Salary.
The challengesDo not ever talk about any personal circumstances, it will be used against you. Zurich HR are NOT your friend. Constantly told 'Zurich is a great place to work', and we will become Australia’s leading digital insurer (they call it North Star) yet they cannot implement any basic systems that work as they should. Alot of 'special' protected employees (in teams like Cont Imp, Tech etc) that really should not be there, if you are a favorite all is good, for the other 98% of employees you are no more than a seat filler. Unrealistic time frames, no forward planning, not enough staff and the cost of high staff turnover (and literal walk outs) due to the toxic environments. Zurich advertises 5 weeks annual leave, this statement is not correct. You have 4 weeks annual leave and then and an additional ‘Z Leave’ which gives you 5 extra days to use (if you meet all the requirements). When it gets too much , you will get the lunchtime pizza pity party. Avoid anything to do with ZAL.

Zurich Life & Investments .. I couldn't think of anywhere I would rather work.
The good thingsI'm on the Life and Investment side of Zurich and having worked there for many years, I couldn't think of a company I would rather work with. I can't think of the last time I woke up and thought \"I don't want to go to work\". The group of people I work with, and have to deal with, are like family. After returning from Maternity Leave, the work/life balance that Zurich offers became very clear. My child is now older, and it's not frowned upon if I ask for leave to attend a school concert or athletics day. Only the other day at a team forum, my boss made it very clear that if anyone was feeling under pressure at work, they were to put their hand up and say something. To me that is a great sign that they really care about their staff. On the Life and Investment side, the senior management and executives are fantastic. They never look down at you. Zurich have also created a Women's Innovation Network (with membership open to men too). When they say Zurich advocates a level playing field for all employees, it's not just lip service - they mean it.
The challengesYes it's true we live in challenging times - but I believe Zurich do all they can to encourage and support employees through these times. We could always do with more staff ... but we're not on our own there ... I bet there's not a company in the world where someone says \"we have too many staff\".

Avoid this place if you value your sanity
The good thingsThe brand still have some lustre left which looks good on paper and there are some genuinely nice people that work there with you in the trenches but not much else to note.
The challengesPoor leadership and culture. Severe cutbacks on staff resulting in very high unmanageable workloads. Pay is below market. High staff turnover and discontent. Leadership completely out of touch with staff issues and not suited for their roles. Promotion and performance ratings are based on individuals uptake with others not based on merit.

It could be a great company if they were united at the executive management level and maintained consistency with their goals. But CEO often over-ridden by executive committee. Look at the number of CEO's they've had and the high turnover in senior posi
The good thingsNot a lot of positive comments to give.
The challengesOver managed, over governanced and over worked. Continuous restructuring and internal politics spills out onto staff. Managers aren't experienced and don't have the technical ability. HR staff are slow and ineffective. Have had more CEO's than cut lunches.

Strong focus on personal development enabled me to grow as a young professional in insurance; the roles i undertook were so varied the vast number of skills I have learned is invaluable.
The good thingsGreat social culture and corporate social responsibility. Strong focus on internal development
The challengesAlthough strong focus on internal development, there aren't too many opportunities available in more senior departments. High staff turnover due to remuneration - leaving Zurich with many vacancies and teams having to operate with a heavier work load and little recognition - this then limits employee engagement
