How to become a Childcare Educator

To become a Childcare Educator in Australia, a qualification in early childhood education or children’s services is required.

  1. Complete a qualification in early childhood or children’s services. This may be a Certificate III in early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30113), or a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC50113).
  2. To work as a Childcare Educator, you’ll also need to have a current Working with Children Check and undergo a police check. It’s likely that you’ll also need to complete a First Aid certificate.
  3. There are many opportunities for Childcare Educators wishing to further their career, such as becoming an Early Childhood Educator or Childcare Centre Manager.
