FAQs - Applying
Having trouble applying for a job?
Clear your browsing history following these instructions and try again. Also note that some of the job ads on our site take you directly to the company’s website to complete the application.  If their website is having trouble, feel free to let us know which job and we can contact them for you.
How do I contact an employer about a job ad?
If an employer hasn’t included any contact details in their job ad, simply hit the apply button and use the free text cover letter section to write your query. When you click submit application, your query will be sent direct to the advertiser. Many of the advertisers on SEEK have their own websites, so it can pay to search for the advertiser in a search engine, and find their contact details there.
What does SEEK do with my application?
We send your application and attachments directly to the advertiser. Unfortunately, we don’t take any further part in the recruitment process so if you are wanting to check your application or ask further questions, it's best to contact the employer directly.
How do I withdraw or cancel my application?
SEEK do not play any part in the recruitment process for positions advertised on our site, for this reason, you will need to contact the advertiser directly to withdraw your application.
Where has that job gone?
An employer will normally expire their advertisement if they have received a large volume of applications, or have filled the position. We can attempt to search our archives for a copy of the expired ad, however, there’s no guarantee we’ll be able to find it if the ad has been archived for longer than 90 days.

FAQs - Suspicious ads
Is this ad legit? How do I report a suspicious or offensive ad?
SEEK is committed to ensuring the website is safe and secure for all jobseekers. To deliver this, every advertisement that is placed on the site undergoes a series of checks. Occasionally, some fraudulent advertisers contrive means of averting our initial electronic checks to exclude them from advertising on our site and their ad is successfully posted. If you see something that looks out of the ordinary, let us know via the ‘report this ad’ function below the advertisement.
Does SEEK give out my details?
We take your privacy very seriously and under no circumstances do we give third parties access to resumes or email addresses without your consent. Please note that when applying for a job, your details are sent directly to the employer so whilst we remain hopeful that ads posted on the site are for legitimate and fair jobs, and that advertisers do not pass your contact details on to any third parties, we do recommend taking precautions to protect yourself against fraudulent activity.
I want to lay a complaint against a SEEK advertiser.
Our Compliance Team regularly trawl the SEEK site for evidence of fraudulent advertisements and remove them once they are found. You can report any suspicious or misleading ad to SEEK by contacting us. Send us a link to the job ad and the name of the company so our compliance team can review the job in question.
If you are having issues regarding pay please contact the Fair Work Ombudsman and/or if you are feeling discriminated against in the workplace please contact the Australian Human Rights Commission.
FAQs - International jobseeker
Can SEEK help me get a visa or sponsorship?
Unfortunately we are unable to offer professional advice about immigration possibilities, however feel free to consult the Department of Immigration. You may also wish to contact a registered migration agent.
I don’t have a visa yet – can I still apply?
Many advertisers on SEEK require that applicants already have the right to work in Australia. These ads include a message: "You must have the right to live and work in this location to apply for this job". If an advertisement does NOT include this message, you can assume the advertiser is willing to review overseas applicants and may be willing to discuss sponsorship with the ideal candidate. To identify these advertisers, you will need to view the full job advertisement.
FAQs - SEEK Profile
How do advertisers view my profile?
All advertisers must be registered with SEEK and have placed a job ad in the same industry classification, sub classification and location that you’ve specified in your profile before they can view your profile. The amount of information that shows will depend on your privacy settings.
How will advertisers contact me?
After you have submitted your application for a role, an employer will assess your application and contact you with the details you have provided within your application. Communication can be either via email or phone, but we recommend you keeping all your details up to date so you don’t miss that call or email!
Can I hide my profile from my current employer?
There is no way to hide your profile from a particular person or advertiser, however you can choose the level of information you would like to share by selecting the privacy setting that best meets your needs. Please note that this privacy setting will apply to all potential advertisers. With more and more advertisers using profiles to find people like you, you never know what opportunity may come a-knock’n. We recommend approaching your SEEK profile similar to an online profile that showcases your skills and qualifications even when you’re not actively looking for a new role.
