How to become a Construction Project Manager
To work as a Construction Project Manager in Australia, you need to register with the Australian Business Licence and Information Service (ABLIS). Registration must be renewed annually, and eligibility requires a mixture of practical industry experience and the completion of accredited qualifications. You must also be the holder of a White Card.
- Hold a White Card. You can apply for a White Card online, and it is mandatory to hold one in order to work on a construction site in Australia.
- Complete a qualification in Construction Project Management from an accredited provider. This could be an Advanced Diploma of Building and Construction (CPC60212), Graduate Diploma of Construction (Management), or a Bachelor degree majoring in Construction Management.
- Attain licence from the ABLIS by having the specified educational qualifications plus 2 years of practical experience, complete the application with details of your training, professional memberships, business operations and samples of work, and insurance.
- Renew ABLIS licencing every 12 months.
