How to become an Estimator

SEEK Learning
Education pathways will vary depending on what industry you’re looking to work in. However, most Estimator roles require practical experience and a qualification.

  1. Gain experience via a relevant apprenticeship with a registered practitioner. This will include hands-on experience and classroom-based theory.
  2. Or, alternatively complete a certificate or diploma in estimation, such as a Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Estimating) CPC40308.
  3. If you are working on any construction site in Australia, you’ll need to apply to get a White Card through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
