How to become a Food and Beverage Attendant

Formal qualifications aren’t necessary to work as a Food and Beverage Attendant, although it is likely that you will need a current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Certificate.

  1. Gain work experience in the field and gain an RSA certificate.
  2. Investigate formalised hospitality pathways, such as a Certificate III in Hospitality (SIT30616) or Certificate III in Catering Operations (SIT30916).
  3. There are many opportunities for Food and Beverage Attendants who wish to further their hospitality career, such as becoming a Restaurant Manager or Food and Beverage Manager. This is usually attained by on-the-job experience and/or additional qualifications such as a Diploma of Hospitality Management (SIT50416).
