Marketing Assistants work on campaigns and undertake marketing-related administrative duties. They work under the direction of Marketing Managers, Marketing Executives and Marketing Coordinators.Did you find this video helpful?
Tasks and duties
- Creating, collating and distributing marketing collateral.
- Supporting market research activities, such as helping to conduct studies and collate findings.
- Copywriting and proofreading.
- Data entry and periodic analysis.
- Monitoring and reporting on key metrics.
- Social media management.
How to become a Marketing Assistant
While not essential, it may be an advantage to hold a qualification to find employment as a Marketing Assistant.
- 1.You can complete a Certificate IV in Marketing and Communication (BSB40820) or a Diploma of Marketing and Communication (BSB0620) at TAFE or through a private college. These take between 6 months and 2 years to complete, depending on the course.
- 2.Consider complete a Bachelor of Marketing, a Bachelor of Marketing and Communication, or a Bachelor of Advertising. The courses will take 3 years full-time, and can be delivered in a classroom or online. University education will require you to have completed year 12 or gain special admission.
- 3.You may be able to find a role without qualifications as an Administrative Assistant and work your way up through the ranks as you gain knowledge and experience.
