What's it like to be a Sales Account Manager?
A Sales Account Manager is responsible for developing long-term relationships with customers, overseeing sales and acquiring new business. Sales Account Managers are generally required to meet sales targets and KPIs.
Tasks and duties
- Developing successful relationships with clients.
- Managing a portfolio of key accounts.
- Acting as a point of contact for customers.
- Understanding client needs and visions.
- Providing resolution for problems.
- Supervising team members assigned to customer accounts.
- Setting and tracking sales targets.
- Working to KPIs.
- Generating new business using customer network.
How to become a Sales Account Manager
Formal qualifications are not required to become a Sales Account Manager but they may assist you in developing your skills.
- 1.Consider completing a Certificate IV in Business Sales (BSB40615) at a TAFE or through a private training organisation.
- 2.Alternatively, consider completing a Bachelor degree majoring in Commerce, Business or Marketing. These courses take 3 years to complete, and you’ll need to have completed year 12 or gain admission through an alternative pathway.
- 3.Get your foot in the door in a sales role and learn on the job.
