  • Overseeing the day-to-day running of particular departments such as HR, marketing, administration or sales.

Business Managers work in a range of industries such as banks, schools, hospitals, restaurants, hotels and corporations. The specifics of a Business Manager’s tasks tend to depend on which industry they are working within.

How to become a Business Manager

There are several ways to become a Business Manager, but most organisations require a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business management. These are usually 3-year courses covering topics such as management theory and practice, budgeting and planning, leadership skills and organisational behaviour.
  1. Complete a bachelor’s degree in business management. This may be a Bachelor of Business (Management) or a Bachelor of Applied Business (Management).
  2. Explore opportunities to further your career, such as completing a Master of Business Management. This is usually a two-year course.
  3. There are numerous career progression opportunities for business management professionals, including working as an Executive Manager, a Venture Capital Analyst or in international business.
