Use expert knowledge of the human body to diagnose and treat a range of musculoskeletal disorders.

What's it like to be a Chiropractor?

Chiropractors diagnose and treat musculoskeletal problems, often in the spine, and manipulate joints in order to prevent and alleviate joint pain without the use of drugs or surgery. Chiropractors also plan and administer treatment plans which include exercises and dietary and lifestyle recommendations. They use hands-on diagnosis methods as well as diagnostics tools including X-ray and MRI machines.

Tasks and duties

  • Administering a variety of neurological, musculoskeletal and functional tests to identify and assess sources of pain.
  • Planning and implementing management of patients' dysfunction, including training and exercise regimes.
  • Designing, reviewing, monitoring, assessing and evaluating treatment programs.
  • Keeping detailed records of treatment history of all patients.
  • Referring patients to other specialists when necessary and liaising with other Health Professionals in relation to patients' problems, needs and progress.
Chiropractors work in private practices and public health care services, as consultants in sporting organisations or physical rehabilitation centres or for health insurance assessment.
