Tasks and duties
- Working with management to prioritise information needs.
- Collecting and interpreting data about specific topics of importance to the business.
- Analysing results and reporting the findings back to the business.
- Identifying and interpreting trends or patterns in complex data sets.
- Developing strategies to optimise the quality of statistical results.
- Maintaining databases.
- Devising new data collection and analysis processes.
How to become a Data Analyst
To become a Data Analyst, you usually need a bachelor degree in a relevant discipline. Industry experience and a portfolio of work may be beneficial.
- 1.Complete a bachelor degree in a relevant discipline, such as computer science, information technology, mathematics, statistics or business analytics.
- 2.Gain industry experience. Interning at a company while studying can give you the chance to work with real data, learn programming languages and build a portfolio to show future employers.
- 3.Consider enhancing your skills and employability with a postgraduate degree, such as a Graduate Certificate in Data Analytics, Master of Business Data Analytics, or a short course.
