If you care about people and doing a good job, don't do it. If you just want to get paid, go ahead.
The good thingsFriendly dentists and a good team. Great patients.
The challengesCompany only cares about targets and money, constantly pushing staff to their limits. Inefficient, erratic, unexperienced and irresponsible management throughout the company. They do not think ahead. They do not care about patients or staff. Changing rosters last minute. Not enough staff to run properly. Generally just getting the run around through corporate with no help provided and very limited career development. Adding task after task to the role with no additional assistance/staff. Including cleaning the entire building, toilets and all. Has potential to be better but very toxic management throughout company and constantly compared to other practices. "They don't have a cleaner" "They get everything done in X amount of time" "That should be enough staff" with no consideration for actual differences between practices and they will not provide detailed data on how those other practices achieve said results, E.g. do they have more staff or less patients.

If you love what you do, this place is not for you. If you go to work to earn money and nothing more, this is the place for you.
The good thingsThe people I worked with were great, loved working with my dentist.
The challengesWorking for a corporate practice left no room for quality patient care, infection control standards are low, everyone there is content working at a low standard, providing the bare minimum for patients.

By far there is probably one particular practice I'd go back too but unfortunately that is it. Nothing good from managment or HR as some of the lead members they hire are still currently learning this lead roles. Also, is it really 1300smiles even though it's been bought by another branch..............?
The good thingsSome practices are better than most others.
The challengesManagement is always a problem.

    Endless Opportunities for Career Growth
The good thingsGood work/life balance. Strong and supportive management team. High quality dental practices that pride themselves on exceeding industry standards. Evolving and growing company that has endless career growth opportunities.
The challengesThe biggest challenge is convincing myself to take holidays as I enjoy work so much.

Incredible, would do it all again in a heartbeat!
The good thingsThe management team is fantastic! Work/life balance is the best I have ever experienced, they actually understand that sometimes things pop up in life that can't be helped. I gained the most experience I ever have from any previous job.
The challengesWorking in a head office away from the coalface can make things challenging at times, but to be expected from a company with practices spread so widely over the country.

If you REALLY care about being a good dental assistant and being 100% patient focused, this is not the role. It's drill, fill and bill as many as possible
The good thingsStaff were friendly Multiple locations
The challengesPoorly staffed-due to upper management (not management at the practice level) No dedicated infection control nurse which is ESSENTIAL in a practice with 15-20min appointments and such a high patient turnover. NO one to help or assist when starting because of being so short staffed. Was promised a specific finish time (and was flexible within reason) but not by 40 minutes

My books are full and I never have to worry about patient numbers.
The good thingsMy books are full nearly everyday and I never have to worry about patient numbers. I'm encouraged to follow my passions in cosmetic dentistry and have great tools for patient treatment plan acceptance. We have a great team who all get along and all help each other if someone is running late.
The challengesI'd like to work out of 2 chairs but we don't have any spare and the other dentists are busy as well.

    I appreciate the Clinical Freedom
The good thingsComplete Clinical Freedom Good support staff & friendly team in the practice Always get paid on time
The challengesHigh billing opportunities but mainly in regional areas like Bundaberg, Mackay, Sunshine Coast and Townsville. It's harder but not impossible to bill high in Brisbane.

They only care about bums on seats. Staff are treated like numbers and not people. This company is dreadful.
The good thingsThe staff were friendly
The challengesNot enough hours and the quality and quantity of stock was appalling. Lack of communication with employers was incredibly frustrating as complaints fell on deaf ears and were never resolved.

It was a nice opportunity to work with good professionals in a friendly environment.
The good thingsGood dentists in general and friendly staff.
The challengesManagement in Queensland too money oriented approach. It is challenging to deliver high quality of dentistry without budget for buying materials enough to maintain stock control smoothly, it was always stressful.

    Dramatic and Negative.
The good thingsFlexible work, but you can get that in any casual position. I also learnt a lot about an industry I had never dabbled in. Although it was learnt in a negative environment.
The challengesColleges are very negative and seem to look for faults.

    Don't do it.
The good thingsThe dentists were nice but that's about it. It was managed poorly, the clinic I was at had no practice manager, therefore I had no one to report to. Overall was just a bad company to work for.
The challengesHaving no manager, having no support being a trainee and not being trained! basically been thrown into the deep end with no help.

An exciting career opportunity and a company l hope to stay with for a very long time.
The good thingsA company that offers support from many executive roles, assists you in achieving your targets and recognise the needs of all support staff. Offers a wonderful workplace to grow yourself in both personally and professionally.
The challengesAs in any workplace challenges occur on a daily basis, but the added support of the Business Support Unit and several other practices assist in supporting you through any challenges that may arise.
