Poor management, and inefficient systems backed by profit-first thinking
The good thingsEnjoyed working alongside doctors to help deliver patient results with accuracy and integrity
The challengesManagement and internal communication needs to be improved. The sample processing system is inefficient and outdated, requiring extensive manual paperwork for electronic requests rather than investing in more effective digital or printing solutions. Strict requirements to write out tests in full, without abbreviations, which slows workflow. Staff are also frequently relocated between clinics at short notice to cover absences or if a clinic is losing patients, which are factors outside the collector’s control. They continue to open up more and more clinics, without addressing existing issues, and lack of staff members.

Had to fight for what i was entitled and felt belittled by senior QLD management for doing so.
The good thingsI once enjoyed working in this industry but the lack of appreciation by senior Management in QLD destroyed my passion.
The challengesWage review process. Better definition of rolls and titles. State management thats in touch with the working class and appreciates and recognises hard word work and loyalty.

Quite a lonely place in these small collection rooms.
The good thingsThe work itself is what I love Pathology is my passion.
The challengesThe rooms we work in vary in size and shape they should at least have a minimum standard of a chair, and a bed for unwell or fainting patients, we should have access to a kitchen for lunches and toilets for staff and patients.

The good thingsWorking with some amazing friendly experienced collectors
The challengesThe way they conduct their Human Resources dept The extreme toxic back stabbing rude to your face culture needs alot of work Need to employ decent experienced qualified staff and stop training total fools who dont stay Learning how to respect their reliable staff Start to believe your staff instead of your patients and you might retain staff

Good work for someone starting in pathology only, don’t expect a career growth.
The good thingsHaving great and understanding patients
The challengesCompany management definitely needs improvement, the culture is quite toxic. No career growth despite having the qualifications and they will keep you on casual contract unless you fight for it to be converted.

verry stressful and down right depressing environment with lots of micromanagement
The good thingssome colleagues are good to be around and work with
The challengesThere Is no Career Progression nor Ethics when handling patient samples, promotions arent based on productivity and initiative if you are friends with upper management you get promoted even if you are incompetent

Awful. Do not waste your time here.
The good thingsThe other staff members
The challengesNo career development opportunities, awful management, terrible coordination between different area managers, expecting far too much from employees. Not enough staff, so you're expected to work additional hours, if you say no, management makes you feel bad.

Low pay, good moments but a lot of bad ones.
The good thingsGreat team, amazing upper management (CEO, CFO, General Manager when they had time would come by and help out, you can tell they really care about the company), if you showed you cared, you'll get cared for back.
The challengesShift work, some people are difficult to work with, high turnover of staff, hiring of staff who don't care about the work

BUDGET pathology company struggling to make it in Melbourne. Budget facilities budget equipment budget testing - budget salary. No hope of long-term employment - permanent casual.
The good thingsThere are few good things. Smaller company means less politics and less paperwork. Okay to gain experience here before joining other pathology company
The challengesPAY - least of all pathology companys, and often will forget to pay for your training! TRAINING - lucky to get a few days on-the-job at the start, and nothing thereafter SUPPORT - lab won't answer, managers wont reply, who do you call? MISC - no uniform, no perks, no allowances

The good thingsTeam work is great and working by yourself with 4Cyte is great and you are always learning
The challengesPersonality clashes/misunderstanding with other team members and employers at times. But it is usually always worked out and dealt with.
